Stardate 03.08.10:

Managed to get a few things done over the weekend.

Finished the James Bond Mod. This has my CAD manual switch, and the light switches in the ashtray. Love this little mod. Thanks to electrohacker for making the alum plate, good job. I had to move a switch, and used a dremel tool that kinda slipped on me and messed up the finish :( Good thing it has a lid! :D

Electrohackers thread for this mod.
neat little Offroading switch pannel

Switch reminder-helper- cuzz I have CRS--ID tag

Next up:
M5OD-R1 swap, custom full console boot.
Front Locker !
Coil over conversion!

:salute:

Love the switches set up and the name, "Bond, James Bond". And the star date.

Are the tire tread, are those the stick on type? I was looking at something like that to do.

The tire tread dealio's are the stick on type. I cut them in half length ways. This brand has the 3m adhesive. There are a few diff types sold at the auto parts stores, I made sure I had the 3m brand for HWY speeds.

I kinda nicknamed the Bond Mod myself :D:thumbsup:

Definitely a nice clean way to mount some switches.

So this black thingy!! better be ready for 20th!! :) No pressure-------

I'm trying, trust me.;)

Have a cross threaded bolt on the trans for the shifter to fix, and re-wire the CAD again. I also need 4 more Oz of beads in the tires.

Git r Done-- got some wheeling to do/visiting

Took the wheels in to add more beads to see if that was the problem with the off-balance tires. On the balancing machine they all read off balance. Installed and took for a short ride and it is a little better, but not much. I have 12 oz/tire of 20g beads in each tire. Does that seem too much or too little? I dunno. From what I have heard 8 oz should be enough for 33". The tires are still good, less than 10k on them. Checked ball joints and hubs, there fine. I got new lug nuts, and hub-centric rings that fit perfectly.

So.......either the beads won't work, or the wheels are bad. :(

nice job on the manual shifter. i would like to see some more pics on the install. i just got the 1350 linkage and have a 1354 on the way. also is the boot from a full size bronco?

Sorry to say there are no pics of this mod. I dropped the ball on this one.

also is the boot from a full size bronco?

I think it is from a 80's Bronco, but that is all I know about it. I didn't pull it, it came with the shifter, so I am guessing a BII?

hmmm, what to do ? those wheels worked fine on 2 trucks before you. Is there a way to throw the bare wheels on a balance machine?

The tires are good enough to live with at this point.

I have bigger problems to deal with now.

I have to remove the home made t-case shifter, as it does not work how it should. I have a kind and good heart-ed person helping me out with that problem.

I am going to have to remove my transmission, as it has been weak for awhile now, and it is on it's last leg. I was lucky to get it back from a 180 mile trip this weekend. For now, (till I raise funds for new trans) it is staying local only. No road trips till it is taken care of.

I am already committed to a current Mod. Once that is done, and I have caught up on current bills, (thanks crap economy) then the trans will be dealt with. Getting the trans done before Smorr is going to be a challenge.

On a positive note, the new brush guard set up saved the front clip from taking major damage this weekend. Very happy about that. The rig never got stuck, and for a IFS it still did fine. The spare tire carrier worked like a charm. The COG was better with it inside, big time. The front skid also did it's job perfect.

Greg your 2nd gen explorer with Ifs front still continues to surprise me, can't wait to see it in action with a front locker.

Update:

Removed T-case shifter that wouldn't work.

Replaced with a nice shifter made by none other than IZwack himself. This thing is stout!

Had to find new bolts for it, dang that was a PITA! The big bolt is a 9/16" course thread.

It works like a charm, shifts smooth, and easily goes into gear. I got a new brushed titanium knob for it, smallest one I could find.
