The Turdle gets a 4406!

Dont forget to fill the t case with ATF!!! hahaha

Also the splines on the output shaft get soaked in ATF with the d shaft installed, without one I am not sure if it would leak ATF or not, but I still say give it a go! Consider it a front end driveshaft U joint test and CV conditioning test

You have to have a rear shaft to seal the backend of the trans. If not for that I might drive it, carefully. Is not the connection in the transfer case a clutch, how does the BW4406 lock front/rear? Good progress, go go go.

Nope, the 4406 is mechanically locked front to rear when in 4HI/LO. I think one of the 13 somethings that has the electro magnetic clutch in it.

Good to hear. Is the BW4406 transfer case a slip yoke or does it have a flange on the backside?

Ok
I am looking thru shifter boots and knobs--I want a real stylin one If I can swing it.
Could someone please measure the "throw" distance for me??

I really like this one--grey and black--perfect!! (if it will work)
it is a mercedes c-class knob and boot

Well that does look nice, too bad that the shift pattern is all wrong.

The plate would be under the carpet--leaving just the bag and knob showing.

no??

You'd just about have to use the boot and knob only- the curve on the side of the trans hump is fairly steep. See the curve in the picture below-

agreed rubber only or custom bend in a metal hoop

I plan on going with leather when I do the swap. If need be, I'll have my aunt to custom make one. She does a lot of sewing.

I bet Evan would like to cut his carpet again. Mounting the shifter and bracket with the carpet out would be the best way to do it. After that you can cut the smallest hole possible, and have the boot protrude out around the rug opening. Regards,

Like mine :)
Looks clean, I was amazed at how lucky I got cutting the carpet, I started small of course but I actually got the fit I wanted the second time, perfect, i was like um okay that works.......expecting to spend alot more time on it then I did

Right- my cut is actually fairly small- I can still get another boot and re do it, but I am satisfied with my current setup. It looks worse in the pictures because of the bright flash.

jtsmtih and 410 are going to have an opportunity to view it in person soon.

update
Drive shaft-and linkage should arrive friday.
I found a boot I like for a good price--

I like both of these knobs--bottom one is my favorite I think--

Now, for anybody doing this swap-
You are sure to complete it faster than me--
Doesn't that make you feel good?:p:

UPS brought this today-

I hope to use the white boot-it looks like it will seal out the elements well,
Then I want to ditch the rubber boot from the middle assembly, and run the leather one ( on left) up through the plastic finish trim piece. I'll try to trim it to fit nicely against the console--maybe under it a bit.

Oh yeah, got the rear drive shaft also--

I tried the white boot, couldn't get it to work at all. The curve is not right for the trans tunnel, in order to get the shifter to fit through the hole, it sticks way into the foot space on the drivers side.

So your going to get that stuff installed ASAP? Get that thing rolling! Jackstands are not a good place for a 347 ci Mounty!

That's a good set of parts to work with. With the plan you mention, I'd set the white plastic piece against the trans hump, then start trimming away the right side of it. Make it fit properly against the tunnel, then add epoxy to it to give you a place to bolt it down.
