I'm looking at the weather along Pete's route home. BLIZZARD conditions! Might want to sit this storm out for another day. A day holed up in a hotel, beats a day holed up in your rig on the side of the road in BFE.

My mother in law in Milwaukee was telling us that they're getting hammered too. It's the same storm that hammered us last weekend up here in Calgary. It was pretty nasty here.

Good advice Gregg.

yeah last night up here north we got lots of wind and the snow drift was bad

Pete is stuck at a truck stop 100 miles north of Des Moines IA . He is literally in Boondock.

No Internet in Boondock Iowa I guess, but he is safe last I heard. He said the wind was so fierce there was no visibility at all.

here in st joe the roads are crap!

the main streets are ok and last i looked over the overpass the highway had one lane open and that was it.

school was canceled today just because the main road around campus is about an inch and a half thick of ice.

out on the country roads the snow drift is awesome to plow through in the ole explorer. went by a subaru car that was stuck in a ditch and then in front of him literally 5 feet a city plow truck was off in the ditch... sucks that guys job is probably up for review.

pete if ya get on anytime soon safe travels man.

Just talked to Pete.

He is still trucking "UP" the Highway. He is currently in St. Paul MN. Doing a sound breaking 35 mph in 50 mph winds. He got pulled over by a State trooper, asking him if he was the crazy guy trying to make it to Canada. Apparently some folk at a Truck stop told the Trooper he was forging on in the storm, and went after him. Once he seen the lifted EX, he told him to go ahead but take it slow, and he should be alright.

Stay tuned, supposed to get another call later on tonight.

hmmm guess the canadian excuse finally worked :D

and the lifted Explorer did'nt hurt either.

Haha...that doesn't sound like him at all:D

Forging on, i just stopped fro dinner in Cloquet Minnesota
it's not bad here a little snow a little wind,, but i will be home in a few hours now,,

staying safe, and driving carefully,,,

glad to hear your getting home a little at a time, but just play it safe and get there all in one piece pete, just let us all know you made it and stay out of the ditch

The ironic part of that is, he will drive what, 15 hours home to avoide the ditch, only for it be the first place he will want to go when he gets home!

Well,, it's after 4 am, and i finally made it home,, safe and in 1 piece,, all is well, the thing is great handles highway driving like a champ,,even in some of the worst winter conditions i have seen in a while,, wind, snow, drifts, no visibility at all, it went on like a true well built rig,,
Hats off the Jon for assembling such a great combination, i am truly impressed, and happy with the finished project,, hey not many rigs will handle a 1000 mile drive just about the day after they are put together, and not need work,, i am gonna check , but i bet i don't even have to retighten anything,, ,
so,, i got a pic of the highway i was driving for a few long hours,,just be glad it wasn't you, rumour has it, there were some 15 foot drifts on that highway, i actually can attest to that ,
this pic was when there was semi good visibility, most of the time it was worse than this,, ,

couldn't get many pics, too busy with the steering wheel,,
