Torque Monster Headers Install Write-up and Review

Those of you that have ordered these, how long was the wait for delivery?

I'm approching 3 weeks, ordered on 2/2/02, 2/14 I was told it maybe another couple weeks.
Going on a basically stock 97 Mounty. Is this the normal waiting period?

Hmmm, I know that Bob doesn't keep a lot of these in inventory and he can be a bit slow. That being said, he's a man of absolute integrity and you will get your headers. Have you tried calling him?

I would like to be clear that I'm not questioning his integrity at all.

Just wondering if this was the norm. My wife placed the order for me on the phone, (her charge card )And relayed to me it would be a couple of weeks.
I e-mailed him last week, he replied it maybe another couple of weeks.

My question was to anyone that had ordered, how long was the wait? Thanks

For me it was two weeks but he had them in stock and it was just before Thanksgiving when I ordered them. Bob did tell me if I waited until Feb that I had first planned it could be a month before I received them. Bob makes each set by hand so it takes a little while if he runs out of stock.

Can penetrating oil or anything be used a few times, like the week before install to try to losen up any freeze/tightness in the bolt's? I just read the other guy shearing a bolt off, I did that on the stupid little thermostat housing and costed me 400 bucks at shop to get that bolt out (took over 3 hours with heat). I'll forget headers if I have to go through that crap again.

Thanks, that's cool, but I think there should be a note of that on his website. I'll update when I receive them.

Well, in case anyone was curious, I'm still waiting on these.

E-mail is useless, anytime I call (usually every other week) I'm told maybe by this friday.
Unbelievable

Yeah-I have to agree on the wait being long.

I am not making excuses, however I do know he has them coated by Jet Hot

We sent a set of headers to them and waited over 6 weeks for their return. The end result was superior to anything I have seen, just like the coating on the Torque monsters.

I would imagine things got slow and Bob had to build many sets to fill a batch at the coater's.

He always has come through for us. I know it is easy for me to say, but try to be patient because these things are so beautiful out of the box you will want to sleep with them.

Couldn't agree more. Bob can be on the slow side for sure, but he always does come through. I needed some new gaskets recently, and although they took a while to arrive, he sent what I needed and more, on his dime.

The key is patience when dealing with TMH. I doubt it highly that this is his bread and butter considered the niche nature of this product. Fact remains, they are a superb mod and well worth the wait.

Sorry to hear it's taken so long. I ordered mine well in advance of actually needing them for this very reason.

Bought my TMH months ago here and just got them installed about two weeks ago. First week my explorer ran awesome:thumbsup:.

Now it feels that my Explorer is kinda chuggy, expecially on the mids. Is this common? I installed MAC CAI,new wires, E3 plugs, Flow Pro muffler 2.5 pipes.

Try disconnecting your battery for a minute then reconnecting it and try seeing how it runs. If it's back to running the way it was, then it's the learn strategy in the ECM and I don't know a way around this without a tune. If it doesn't help, then you are down to tracing the problem.

By the way, if you are due to have an emissions test, do NOT do this until you have that done. Once disconnected, your ECM will have to go through a drive cycle test which can take a day...or two weeks...before you can take the test.

I had the same problem for the most part. Turned out to be a slight leak between the two pieces on the driver's side (i.e. the small gasket). Check out all the bolts to make sure they're tight, not just at that junction, but everywhere.

Thanks for the quick help guys. I will check the gaskets. However I did buy the thickest heavy duty ones I could find. They are Remflex Graphite and they seem pretty unleakable. I haven't checked the small elbow gasket thing yet. This was not done by me so we'll see.

I thought I needed new set of main gaskets (and scored a set of Percy's for the job). My muffler guy was convinced it was the small junction gasket and he was right. I still have a set of Percy's in the package which I'll keep for future use. I think I'm going to get Remflex to cut me a small gasket for future use. Bob sent me two of his gaskets after to help troubleshoot the problem. One went on the truck and solved the chugging problem and I have one in reserve tp use as a template for Remflex if I go that route.

Try and put a stethoscope to the junction. There was a definite "before and after" difference once the gasket was replaced.

It's getting close to time for my install :)

It took almost 7 weeks for mine to arrive. But I wanted the larger outlet, with an Intake Spacer.

He had the Standard Outlet, in stock ready to ship. He told me he would have to build the ones I wanted. And there would be a wait for them.

They are HANDS DOWN the best money I have ever spent on a header. And worth every dime, and worth the wait!
