i don't know- but this particular case is pretty damn funny

Rocket I meant no dis-respect hombre its just confusing for people who buy a truck from Ford with a 4r70w and then you say its not, thats all.
Its weird too because usually if ford changes one little thing they change the name of the whole trans, so I would think they would use two different names since there are changes, but they didnt :)

Sorry if I came across like I was arguing, I was just curious.

Well I'm stickin' with my signature. Sounds like a 4r70w to me.

Sorry been gone on business trip in Maine the last week so no chance to reply till now...

It is fine with me. You believe whatever you want to believe. There will be differences and debates when talking tech about vehicles, which tends to be the rule and not the exception. The only thing I didn't appreciate was your somewhat smart azz tone in a few of your posts. Either way it is no big deal. All we are debating is the name of a transmission. :D Whether we are referring to the AOD-E or the 4R70W version of a very similar generation of transmissions, they are all still very capable of holding lots of power when built properly. That is all that matters to me.

oh my!

got any more info on that engine? I am VERY interested in that upper intake manifold.

Hi,
Well, I just decided today to give my current 5.0 its resting day sometime this late spring. Its a great smooth, clean oil running engine, its just getting tired, with 166kmi. on it. I'm replacing it with a low mile 87 casting Mustang short block (freshened up). Its a stronger casting block ,thicker walls!!!, better mains, crank, rods and forged pistons. The cylinder walls show all crosshatch and the pistons are not worn ,so I'm going to hone and just do new moly rings. I'm aware that I have to mill the nose of the crank down about 1/8" for the Ex balancer, which looks to be cut to balance just like the mustang. I ofcourse will rebalance the rotating assembly to be sure with the explorer balancer.I'm still going to run a set of GT40P heads. and top it off with my custom Eaton F150 blower setup to gain some HP when done. That will be my substitute for not going stoker.

They are on there- they are the holes on the flanges themself.

+1...The holes are for the injectors and the cutout areas and the little screw bosses are for the COP's.
