Barack Obama linked 2nd gen. SAS

Bumper time:

Front:

From the side (kinda):

And finally how its mounted (and a shot of the 1-inch D-ring tab)
bumper_03.jpg

The bumper mounts using thre 1/2" bolts per side - for a total of six bolts.

I havent completely finished it yet because the synthetic winch roap and the aluminum fairlead are still on their way. But there will be one somewhat horizontal piece near the center and the bottom to protect the winch.

The mounting holes on the bumper itself can be seen in this shot:

Looks good  Headlights look like they may be targets though, any plans for them?

So you want me to remove the headlights? :D Cauz I can do that, they're not even screwed on at this point.

But I guess I don't have plans for them. I drove it tonight to the gas station and you can see a little bit of the light reflecting off of the bumper, but you can clearly see the entire headlight.

It's just that them babies aint cheap, after busting 2 tailights @ 40$ a pop on my truck,I decided to do something about it. I'd hate to see you keep replacing headlights that are much more expensive. I'm one to talk though, I'm still rockin the stock bumper

Ah gotcha - I'll keep that in mind and see what my options are should I smash one of them. Thanks :D

That bumper looks sweet! I might just copy it if thats ok? lol

Please do :D

Very nice!

Would someone please send that boy a header panel and a grille!?!??!?!

*disclaimer* I have never used one so I dont know what the outcome would be.

IZ A lot of buggies run anti rock sway bars. Its more or less a torsion bar with links coming off it. Currie and other companies make them. Many buggies that run coil overs and airshocks swear by them. While I dont think it would be as good as a beefy street type sway bar it may be good for your situation. Best of all you could just leave it attached on the trails. I have been lead to believe they dont impeed flex any. (I really dont understand how it doesnt)

That being said, excelent build man. I cant wait to see that thing at paragon to see how it does. You should try to come out on the weekend of the 20th with Spas and Blee1099

According to Currie, the anti-rock (and other torsion style) sway bars are supposed to help suspension while off roading more than it will on the road.

that part is clear. But in general it would have to make some difference on road also. I just dont know how much.

Yes it probably would, just not as much as your typical anti sway bar.

I said this I thought

Thanks for the suggestion. :D

It doesnt seem like I have enough time to install the Aussie Locker before Paragon so I'm just going to run an open front differential for now. Today I tightened down all of the joints just to make sure everything is snug. I also installed a pair of Sway-A-Way limit straps on the front. Also relocated the winch solenoids to the center console to prevent it from getting wet (which, according to what I've read on PBB, is one of the worst things that can happen to the solenoids). After that, it was on to help install a lift on an XJ. The aluminum fairlead arrived but the synthetic rope has not - but at least I can finally finish that bumper now that I have the fairlead :)

I don't think I can make it up there on the 20th cauz thats pretty much back to back weekends.

You should be able to get that locker installed fairly fast (under 2 hours) I think you may regret not doing it if you dont. A front locker has proven more usefull than a rear at paragon.

I'll see if I have time on Friday. I might be able to squeeze it in but I'm not sure because the vehicle is already running and to try to rush putting a locker in could lead to disaster on the trail. In addition, the three other vehicles I'm going with are not really too well built up with one being a stock 2-dr Blazer -- so the rules suggests I hang around with them (3 vehicles or more per grp) wherever they go.

Rumor has it paragon has dropped the 3 vehicle rule to a 2 vehicle rule and hasnt put it on their site that way yet. Ask when you get there. There are several fun obsticles you can hit while staying in your group. Small spots near the trail you can have a little fun on.

I know RC changed the rule, I wonder what prompted this?

IZ, back to back weekends is even more reason to come. :D
