Color's Run at Tellico - Oct 10-12

This is gonna be cool, even if I cant find a ride for the trails I will be able to meet some more board members. And plus I can just drive around on trail 1 and show it who's boss:D

Hey Patrick, we'll let you be the trail boss for trail 1 buddy!! How'z that??

Spas, it'll be worth the drive!

Okay, let's get a headcount, and has anyone at all called Crawford Campground yet? Let's figure out how many campsites we need and I'll get that set up.

Is this list about right?

I got 2 more EX's coming with me. One of em is Maxplorer, and the other isn't a member on here yet, his name is Tommy.

Is everyone planning on staying at Crawford's?

Yeah, everyone w/me is staying at Crawford's.

Oh, the total people with me will be 4.

It's too early for me to call quite yet. If I can land a job I'll be there, if I can't land a job, I'll still be here looking for one.

as long as i can get new tires i will be there. which most likely i will. there will be me and my woman and we will camp also. i will keep ya'll updated on the tire situation, i do not want to go there with the pos ones i have.

As far as I know it's just me coming down for this. Can somebody be nice enough to post directions to this campground and maybe an itinerary so I know where to meet up with Y'all?

It would be easiet to meet someone somewhere, if now you WILL get lost...me and Jason found that out the hard way. We turned a 2.5 hour trip into a 4 hour trip and the whole extra hour and a half we were within 10 miles of camp

YOu could go to MapQuest and get the direction to crawfords.

Yeah the camp ground is not easy to find!

Guys, i was hoping to have found a job by now and i would have bought a truck and a trailer, but i'm not counting it out yet. Oh, the first day of bow hunting is the 18th, not 11th. So, if i'm able to get a truck and trailer bought, or borrowed by then, then could me in, but who knows, it's not looking good.

Spas, I have no idea how you will be heading down to Tellico, but I am heading there on Friday, and if you are coming down I-40, I could meet you somewhere at Asheville and we could head to Murphy. But like I said, this is dependant upon how you come down here, just wanted to give you an option! :)

You'll need to Mapquest or otherwise figure out how to get to Murphy NC; you'll probably be coming down Hwy 77/81 or whatever it is that parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway, then out 74 to Murphy. Once in Murphy,

Directions From Murphy, NC to TELLICO

From the McDonalds in Murphy on Hwy 64, turn north (left) onto Hiwassee St and go to the first traffic light. Turn left at light onto Tennessee St and leave town, the road becomes Joe Brown Hwy (there is a couple of places along here to buy gas) continue for 2.8 miles until you come to a blinking caution light. Turn right at the caution light and go on Hanging Dog Road for approx. 5.5 miles and turn right onto Davis Creek Road (note: before you get to Davis Creek Road, there is one place where a road Y's to the right and it is hard to tell which is the main road since they both look about the same, be sure to Y to the left to stay on the main road). After turning right on Davis Creek Road, pavement will end soon and the Forest Service entrance station will be on your left. Trail #1 starts here and continues through the ORV area and turns into River Road at the NC/TN state line.

To go to Crawford's, simply do NOT take that right turn onto Davis Creek Road to go to Tellico and continue onward for about 4 miles; the campground is on the right and you cannot miss it, it's got a white Jeep mounted high up on a flagpole at the entrance. It's really not all that hard once you have good directions and it's a heckuva lot easier to find than that campground we stayed at near Paragon :p

Crawford's has its own website now:

Is it too late to add my name to the Tellico list? Assuming I'm in town, that is...

I'm working on this contract has me traveling abroad quite a bit. I hate to admit this, but I haven't gotten my tires dirty all year!

Changing the subject slightly, anyone up for a one-day North Georgia run this month? I need to make sure my 4 wheel drive still works!

Count me out, that weekend is my family weekend for school so I have about 962 relitaves coming down to see our football game. I am sure yall know where I would rather be....i will give you 2 guesses. Yall have a great time and show some Jeeps that X's can play in the dirt too.

Also, any kids that want to go to college...dont do it, I can assure you that they will have a "family weekend" on a weekend where there is something much more fun to do.....damnit. :D

I'd be up for a N GA run sometime depending on if I gotta work. And work is a little shakey right now. We've had the past 2 days off cause we ain't got no parts, so that puts us working on the weekend now. Oh well.

Tellico for me will be very very tentative now due to this work thing. I will keep ya'll posted when the week gets here. I don't want to miss this run at all. I may not make it up on Friday evening, but Sat. will be a good day to get there too.

SCOTT!

By golly I didn't know you still checked the board, hadn't heard from you in years, GREAT to hear from you! :bounce:

I'm way too busy for yet another run in n GA - I'll be at the Dixie Run at Tellico the week before this one, then two weeks later I'm heading out to Moab - but I would love to see you at our run!

I am all for a North Georgia run though...maybe Rich or Amalacola sometime.

I was thinking about Rich Mt. - I forgot about Amicalola. Either one would be great.
