I'm going to bring this back for a thought. I just looked these up at NAPA. They have them, and I am fairly certain they are the Tracmotive axles. They also have a limited lifetime warranty. Now they are pricey compared to what you'll find at RockAuto, but for the warranty and the chance to get them in person (and exchange them in person, at any NAPA store) it may be worth the extra money.

There's a manufacturers lifetime warranty already. This isnt something thats gonna be commonly stocked. I have two sitting ready to install when I do my ball joints and the rack and pinion.

That's a good thought for trucks like yours that get a lot of off road work. Having the part readily available some place is a big deal.

you have the receipt somewhere you can find it, they can't warranty it out like AutoZone can with their database. Idk who makes the AutoZone ones.

If you buy online anywhere, you have a digital receipt. The printed receipts don't last long before the ink fades.

That's true. I've told customers buying frequently returned items (batteries comes to mind) to photograph the receipt so they have it permanently. I'll also give them the old style "big" receipt as they tend to last longer.

Ok for lack of a better term the extended travel CV axles suck. If anyone is still watching this thread do not buy them, I had less than 3K miles on mine and I crawled under the truck the other day to see both boots completely torn open. It's not worth the effort for me to warranty them, replace them, then repeat over and over again.

Would love to update on mine but pretty sure I didnt have them installed that long before I had to park mine for the timing chains last year. Who did ya get them through?

Gotta bring some old threads back to life again. I spoke to a NAPA rep who visited our store last week. They were actually there to give us a presentation on the various CV axles we sell. We were busy so it was more like a quick Question and Answer time, but I did ask him if the extended travel CV axles that we sell are Trakmotives or knockoffs. He said they are manufactured by Trakmotive, sold through NAPA. I'm setting money aside for a set.

So I can comfortably say do not get the trakmotive axles. I put less than 5K miles on mine and the boots ripped open from 99% freeway miles. I actually hadn't noticed they ripped open until I went through some mud and they seized up a little bit while I was coming back home. I went to trakmotive to warranty them, they said contact rockauto, rockauto gave me the runaround, I'm throwing in the towel.

I have the traxkmotives on my wife’s FJ cruiser they are the same axle Napa sells

They completelymsolved
The issues I was having with her suspension being at a tall ride height
Her FJ uses a hodge podge of different parts to get to her lift height I’ve been modifying her truck since it was new in 2007
She has a 6” rough country lift with aftermarket uca (Chevy one ton ubj) a 1”’diff drop, and now running Tacoma 6” loaded struts from rough country (not made for FJ and I know why… they max out the ride height on a basic rig with just the rough country lift)
Her factory cv axles are long gone, I was using cardone warranty replacements for years. Well the cardones could not hang with her big lift. They were ratcheting so bad at ride height it was not drivable
I had two choices, well 3nactually if you include solid axle swap
RCV axles for $1800+ or Trac motives for $350… we went with the Trac motives
I read all about their early production boot issues. Those have been solved.
Also read all about how the factory Toyota cv axles were great and can be rebuilt for more Travel… too bad I traded those in for cores about 100 thousand miles ago.
Then I read all about RCV and how their early boots had issues too
Trakmotive has improved the boots they use
So far so good as I said her suspension is completely solved, rides better than it has in 5 years.
Cardone cvs run at 22.5 degrees
Trakmotives or Napa extended travel run at 45 degrees… $350 a pair, enough said! Can carry a cardone as a trail spare just to get home if needed
I’m very happy with these and would purchase again

Boots should be covered under the limited
Lifetime warranty, but after extensive research I can tell you they use a completely different boot now
I love them, they are tough and if you read about them you will come to similar conclusion
I’m super happy because I can buy about 6 pairs of these for the cost of one set of custom long travel cvs
And now she has her FJ back on the road and it clears the 35” tires, her struts are $350 a pair instead of the $2000 kings we had in there with a spacer… I got tired of rebuilding the kings and their uniball mounts every two seasons.. plus really tired of the spacer. Some uni air shocks or some icon 6” coulovers are $2500… I’m happy with the. $350 rough country struts and the $350 cv axles finally a better then factory ride with a big lift!!! Plus I can get these parts easily, no 6 month lead time and thousands of dollars

I have a pair that I didn't use yet when I went through my 98 again in March. I didn't know if there was a new conclusion about the Trackmotive CV axles.

Jamie, is it hard to identify the old rubber boot design which is defective? I might not use these soon, but I think I'd like to put them in my 99 before too long.

That are good news, hoping the best for the new boot design.
Had two sets of the Tracmotives and was not lucky with the boots,
Rockauto discription

So i gave GSP a chance,

It is not really rubber, it feels like soft plastic, the material feels very thin too.
Became wrinkles after installing, no chance to avoid this (both sides).
First fails at the outer side, half year later the diff side fails.

Another issue are the dust seals on the wheel side, they crack too (Trakmotive and GSP use the same).
I use SKF 25013 , it is a two piece design, they never fail until now.
