Okay, I just checked the weather site. It says for this weekend to be highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Prepare for that. Remember this place is between 5000-6000 feet elevation. Also, chance of showers now thru Sat morning. I'm bringing a bottle of really good tequila to share around the fire. ;)

Tom, are you confident in your directions, particularly from Warner Springs to the reservation and on to the campground?

Yes.

I'm headed out the door shortly, to a funeral in Arroyo Grande. Talk to you all in a few days!

all right guys see you there....if this paycheck is big enough i just may slap on 31/10.5/15s on friday....i hope so...bfg at ko......ill get them testfitted......if no than 30x9.5.......that will help me out a little bit. a lot better than my general grabber all purpose tires

I can't wait to get there 2 more days. Just got some new procomp muds to get rid of my bald tires I had. I can't wait I'm ready to test the new tires. Forget studing I'm going to start packing now. I can always retake a class but missing a weekend of wheeling can never be replaced

Matt

yeah....me too.....i just put on my clear fronts and my air horn.....it sounds like a big rig!!!!!a little on the high tone side but very, very loud.

Colin, sorry to hear you won't be there. Hope everything is okay.

Ken Cooke, are you still going, and if so, what time will you be there on Sat.?

I'm now planning to be there Sat morning instead of Fricay night, easier to set up the tent! See you guys 8-9am.

Los Coyotes via Palm Springs

Bill,

I'll be driving up the "Palms to Pines" HWY from Palm Springs. I need
some clear directions or somewhere to link up on Expedia for the right
maps. Dan Wilson also told me that he wanted to bring his Explorer
as well as Andrew Simpkins. Andrew will be the only Jeep on this run,
and he is a great guy to 'wheel with. His forte is in Extreme Rockcrawling,
so even though this is a FORD TOUGH run, he'll be an asset to our party.
Andrew and his wife Gretchen will be staying at the Palm Court Inn in
Palm Springs - I will be staying with Suzanne's brother Adam (who is
also attending) at Dan Wilson's house in Palm Springs. Here are my
questions I need to have answered...

1. What CB channel should we monitor on our way up the mountain?
2. Where exactly should we go to meet up? I have never been to
Los Coyotes, and I don't know my way around there...
3. Are you guys gonna give Andrew a hard time for bringing his little
Jeep along for the run?
4. Any good links on Expedia for a map to this reservation?

I'm looking forward to this run - the last one I went on was in Death
Valley with Andrew Simpkins and TDavis. Both guys got along very well,
and this should be a great BACHELOR PARTY for me and everyone else
since my wedding is on Sunday morning (I gotta make it back in one
piece guys!) :o)

ok Rockranger!!!i am still meeting you @ carls or mobil1 somewhere between 8-930 in temecula on friday night right?

9 AM is okay!

This time-change has been hard on me all week, but 9AM will be a fair time for us to begin this run.
I hate getting a late start on the fun stuff, so 9AM is great with all of us 'wheelers!

Minus One?

Hey guys,

I just tried to reach Dan Wilson, and his phone is disconnected. I know that he was trying to to sell his house and that it was finally sold, so I guess I'll need a place to stay in the Palm springs area before the wedding and it looks like he won't be coming on this run - Just Adam, Andrew, Gretchen and myself...

in 24 hours i should be halfway there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am ready less then 24 hours till I leave . Jim I will meet you between 8:00-9:30. I have to meet my mom in warner springs on the way to drop off some stuff to her and pick up some firwood my parents are giving me. It is right on the way. Not sure how much wood I will see when I get there. If you have any troubles call my cell phone (619)254-1369
Ken as far as directions here is what I ran on map quest how to get there Dead Link Removed

Once you get to warner springs when you past the gas station about 200 yards to left will be a road called Camino San Ignacio or something close to that. Take a left on that (only way you can go) and you will go out about 9 miles on it. You will get to the entrence of the reservation there. Big sign can't miss it. Pay your $10 or something like that and ask the person for a map. Once you pass there stay on the main road for about 2-3 miles till you see a large stone water tank. That is the campground we will be somewhere in there.
I am ready less then 22 hours till I am on the road.

Matt

see you tomorrow! less than 18 hours till i hit the road!!!!!!!!!!!

Travel time

From the looks of things, we will have to leave at 7AM to make it by 9AM for
the run. Any nearby gas stations that you would know of? That's all I will
need to know before this run. Also, my cell number is (909) 255-1589 if there
are any last minute changes that I need to be aware of. After tomorrow
afternoon, I won't have access to a computer, so if anyone has any questions
or anything I'll need to know about them by 11:30 AM. See you all there.
My Ranger will be ready.
Suzanne went to Joshua Tree today, and she told me that Keys View was
receiving moderate snowfall this afternoon. This is at approximately 5,000
feet above sea level. This may turn into a wet run afterall!

i think you will have to go through temecula. there is a gas station there.

a little under 14 hours till i hit the road....8 of thos hours will be getting packed @ work...i already put everything in the car but havent packed up anything yet! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

early bird gets the camp site...

Well, I'm here in Temucula.. Yea, I know. Early Bird.

I also drove upto Los coyotes, and came back down for supplies, gas, and a motel room with a phone. Headed back up there for a good campsite in the morning.

Ken - Look up Warner Springs, CA. Los Coyotes is east of the Warner Springs Ranch complex (east of the tennis courts and golf course, watch for the sign). You'll drive straight in from there, stopping at the gate to pay. Ok, I just pulled out my atlas, and checked. Your fastest, shortest route is to take ca111 east out of palm springs towards palm desert, to ca74 (right turn), headed south. from there, you'll want to take ca371 south (left turn, towards anza) to ca79. Head east (left turn). You'll have about total of 70 miles driving to do (one way).. oh wait, let's see.. 12+6+24+6+15+6+20 miles.. ok, that's 89 miles, one way. maps.yahoo.com wanted you to 100+, so that's mucho faster. here's a small map of the area (the red star is not exactly at warner springs..) http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Py...ent=&mag=6&desc=&cs=7&newmag=5&poititle=&poi= otherwise, you'll have to head over to I15 and then down, and that's a really roundabout way to get there. I'll be carrying 5 gals of gas, so if you need it, you can use it. There are several gas stations along the way - only problem, they aren't cheap, and they aren't open for long hours.

We'll wait for you guys at the camp site - if we do go play, we'll come back at 10am for sure. I've also got your cell #, and Andrew's cell #. Now if I only had a cell phone to use.. :-) I'll give you a call..

I'll also have the CB radio on Channel 1, listening for everyone. Call you when you see the Indian Campground Inc sign, and we'll be listening for you!

Ken, on Tom's map link, Los Coyotes is the brown area to the right of the red star. There is a gas station in Warner Springs, plus I'll have a gas can too, don't worry. When you turn left off of 79 onto Cam. san Ignacio, it will look wrong, cuz you'll be in a nice little suburban zone. But keep going, the road will hang right and start going uphill. There you will see a sign for the reservation, and I think one saying end of county maintained road. I doubt Tom in camp will pick up your CB signal from there, but you can try. Keep going more miles, you'll come to the gate. When you pay, they'll give you a little map of the trails. Ask them about getting to the main campground.

I have a decent amount of hardwood I'm bringing, but we will need all we can get.

Tonite, the weather site says snow level 4000 feet, and 50% chance of precip. The campground is at about 4500-5000 feet! For Fri-Sat, it says chance of precip and snow level about 5000 feet, and windy, with lows in the 30's, days in the 50's. Please come prepared!!!
