I just posted about that on the Aftercooler thread. :D

700 is way too much for a shorty header coated. i could understand a long tube or something really nice but not that, i would think 550 to 600 but hey that is what i am shooting for but with bigger tubes.

blk mk8.. I'm all about the bigger tubes. But it's nearly impossible to get to some of the bolts on each side of these tubes. How are you going to make them bigger?

The stock headers are shorties. These are long tubes in a shorty kinda way :)

Section, if the graph of your air/fuel ratio is at wide open throttle, I think you would gain a bunch of power by lowering the ratio. Isn't that the job of the chip? Throw this question to your chip tuner, as the better headers should lean the mixture even more.

:nono: By the way, torque steer has nothing to do with the movement of the engine. It comes from a differential and the different torque split sent to the wheels.

Thanks for setting the example, and good luck.
CDW

.....and yea, you're running a bit lean.

So get in contact with Brian and have him re-tune my chip?

I got the headers all on and buttoned down today. I'm getting my steering shaft extended. Should be done tomorrow. After trying to contact PA to get the F150 extension and just getting answering machines.. I called my local 4wheel store. They couldn't help me either. So, if anyone wants to run these with a body lift.. work on getting your extension before you have your truck torn apart.

I'll get some pictures of the mess I got myself into tomorrow. It involves a lot of cutting of nice stock parts. :( But it will be worth it in the long run.

After getting my chip re-burnt, the exhaust on, and come out with 60 more HP and 100 more LB FT.. I'll be happy.

4wheelparts are down the street from me. I can check tomorrow at lunch on the extention if you need Section. I'm surprised Nitrous didn't think of that... :chug:

It's okay. I already did the cutting. But thanks. I've been meaning to ask you how your setup is. Last I remember was after the cam install.. Matt said you blew it up! :p Hows it runnin?

Its running great when I don't have a blown head gasket.... :banghead: My little medical problem has the Explorer sitting in the back with a car cover on it until I can work on it again...

The Eaton/E303 combo works well together. The lag in the E303 on the bottom is picked up by the Eaton, and when the Eaton starts running down in the higher rpms, the E303 picks up.

You need to get that thing on the dyno (I am an addict now and I can tell I'll be spending all my money on making those little numbers bigger). :D

dont do a reburn or anything but the header swap before you go back to the dyno. We need accurate numbers!

I'm looking at two options:

1) Bite the bullet and have a local stealership put the head gaskets on. ( Nitrous - Westland Ford - a guy named Arnold I think). Only problem with this is the engine has 170K now, and I don't want to do this and the thing quit in two months.

2) Buy a new crate engine - M-6007-XE3 (GT40X heads, E303, 9.0:1 comp). This is what I am leaning towards. Just go ahead and stick a new one in and go from there.

Matt can tell you - the closest dyno that is worth a crap is either in Reno, Las Vegas, or Idaho. It will be a little bit before I can get to one of them...

hmmm I think someone is in need of a 347....

Section...you just worry about getting exhaust on there

Boomin.. I'll have this thing dynoed again on Monday or Tuesday. I'm just thinking about what to do after the next uncontaminated dyno! :D

What you need is flowmaster 40 non-delta true 2.5'' duals like me :) They would sound great with your truck expecially with that cam, rockers and now better headers.

That's what I was thinking. ;) And you can get a 347 kit for only 2 to 3 times the price of these headers.
Not knocking the headers, Lord knows we've needed someone to make these for a long time.

Lou.

I thought a 347 would be stupid breathing through stock manifolds. Now I am rethinking this mod with the arrival of these new headers!

1.5" will be a little small for any healthy 347, but it is alot better than stock or FRPP headers/manifolds.

As for larger primaries, they would blend back to the same port size, so bolting would not be greatly effected with a 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" primary header. The "project" headers are 1 5/8" and I have no issues at all.

Yea as CobraXP mentioned the dynos around here aren't worth a rats ass. They're all ran by teeny-bopper idiots that think 300HP is "MAD" power. When I had baseline dyno's done on my cars the idiots insisted that my 3rd gear is a 1:1 (like civic's) and dynoed it in that gear instead of 4th (really the 1:1) Like I told them too.

Dave you need to just order a nice little DSS Pro Bullet 306 short block for around 2k. Greg and I can do the rest :) I'm up for a few more 3am nights, as long as there is provided Dr. Pepper and disc grinder action! I think it would be a sweet winter project. I did my heads/cam/intake stripped down to the short block in 2 days. :)
