I bought the OME leaf springs-CS042R a few years ago and finally had them installed last week. They ride much better than the worn out stock leaf springs and I bought new eye bushings from Rock Auto. They provide 1.5” of lift. I used the stock length Dorman shackles.

I have about 2” of lift in the front from a torsion twist but the rear is actually higher even with the stock length shackles. The first photo is the drivers side rear fender flare which is about 35.5” high. The second photo is the passenger side that’s about 36” high. This is expected as I had a full tank of gas when I took the photos.

It’s riding on 265/70R-16 MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S2 XL tires. I recommend the OME springs if you need new leaf springs. Just note that they will lift the rear. The last two photos show the before and after under the truck. You can see in the first photo that the upper leaf was warped. Yes, that’s a Firestone spare tire from 1999 that was never used and will never be used.

I used the U bolt skid plates that I bought on this site made by Brian, along with 5/8 x 3-1/4 x 10” U bolts.

Good job! I love the OMEs on this one, although theyre a little flatter than Id like (so used a shackle haha) I dont think I got 1.5" lift out of them, but it could be all the bins and stuff I haul haha!

Thanks. I don’t have anything on the roof or in the cargo area so it sits higher. But I’m sure they’ll settle after a few months and lose some arch.

I once weighed my bins of gear and they were 200 lbs :o. Then theres the roof badket then all the other stuff I haul sometimes (lumber extra tools concrete bricks hahaha)

I put a set on my 92' last fall, night and day difference or my sport trac springs with add-a-leafs!! Mine gave me right at 1.5" after settling a bit.

Husky spring sells on rockauto thru have seen leafs for about half that price

The 2” will settle to 1.5 or so

Nice looking exploder!!!

OME springs have always been a good choice. I ran them for awhile before I changed my suspension. Wound up selling them to Maniak who ran them for a long time. May even still be on there.:dunno:

The ARB Old Man Emu springs don't come with the bushings either so that adds even more, but they are some of the best springs I've ever seen and I've been building 4x4's since the 80's
Can vouch for this. Buy once cry once IMO. These OMEs have stood up to towing up to the limit of this Explorer, hauling soil, bricks, etc etc. And on its days off it goes wheeling and I may have used the overload leaf as a skid plate once or twice... Might be oen of the best parts on this rig hahaha.

On our other rigs weve run Skyjackers but this was the first one to get something different. Cant say Im dissapointed at all haha.

I love my new leaf springs. it is so nice to have new bushings and no longer having the left side lean

I wonder if these would work on my ST?

I would guess that they will since I had Sport Trac springs on my 92' before I put the Old man Emu springs on.
