Well the new 5.0 is already bolted in. We need to install the trans and we should be ready to crank it up. I did replace the yoke on the Drive shaft, so with any luck it should be running midday tomorrow.

jon used to bug me and bug me about not having a 5L in my truck. now that i have one, his truck has once again beat me to it! yup, he would be smiling from ear to ear. i wished i could be there to help out. keep on posting up pics and keeping us updated!

Please tell me y'all are documenting this for a build thread "V8 swap into 1st Gen", I have a '97 AWD Ex and '97 Mounty AWD V8 I plan on transplanting the motor into my '03 Sport Trac when the motor eventually dies down the road. I plan on having my SAS, SOA done within the next two years if things go right.

The 03 sport trac would be a more complicated then this job 1 sport trac, it is still possible but there would be a lot more wiring involved which would include adding a seperate PATS module. Since in 03 the PATS is built into the PCM.

Nice to know, I may have to go Carb'd and wire it with new gauges with a painless wiring harness. Oh well, I don't like the computer systems and emissions anyway. Now back to the "Rock Trac" build, More pictures!!!!

Well the way this one was done it will pass emissions for Texas. all smog and egr systems were retained. So this one would never have any inspection issues in the state of Texas..

As far as a late production trac goes, like Kris said, the pats module from the donor vehicle would need to be retained but really all your doing is running 10th or so wires to it so that would be easier and less expensive then converting to carb if you want to try and go that route. Granted, we were lucky that the rock trac was an early production, thus wired like a second gen. However some repinning was required in our swap on the c139 10th pin connector and one additional charging wire needed to be ran to the battery junction box
