an IFS toyota box works great too...both me and 034x4 have them. mine isnt on yet but his is.

I am going to go out on a limb and say there's almost no way to do it with a V8. You obviously know how it pretty much sits on top the frame rail. Well on the 5.0s the AC sits right there. I just don't think it will fit especially with the BL gone. I wish it would since I already have the Yota box! :p

For future readers doing an SAS and wanting a forward facing pitman arm - what years of fj60's ran these forward-armed steering boxes?

All of them.

And, to make it even sweeter - FJ80's also had the same style box, and so do some Lexus's.

lol, now thats funny, section let me know about those hangers, im in the process of copying your crossmember right now.

I wonder if I can get jasonb to make me a new 'JB HD Diff Cover'?

Just scored some Sky Manufacturing hi-steer arms from Michael!

They're 7/8" taller than the normal ones but use the same stud length. Very cool! Thanks Michael! :D

No problem, they were just sitting in a closet taking up space. I will throw a set of cone washers in the box with them. All you will need is the studs and nuts then.

Thats what I am using. They clear the leafs perfectly. I still need to order teh drivers arm and go to true Histeer one of these days.

Thats a nice lookin axle you got there :D

FYI- the 70whatever to 79 F150 4x4 box would work... it has a forward swinging arm and is actually really stout compared to most other Ford boxes. The 2x4 F150 box has a rearward swinging arm and is quite a bit weaker than the 4x4 box.

I may have to look into one. They want $375 for an FJ80 box. I paid $37 for the Toy IFS one I have now. :p

Tom, what is a good price for an FJ60 box? Or is $375 about what you paid? Cal Mini Trucks said they don't even have any FJ60's right now. :(

You could try, TLC all they do is land crusiers. They may know where to get a box. They're in the valley, so I could pick it up for you if needed. ;)

I got mine for $150. It was from a place on the East Coast.. I'll try and find it again..

That was easy, http://www.cruiserparts.net

FJ60 boxes, $150 plus shipping..

The front facing boxes are on

FJ60's, all years, FJ80's, all years, and Lexus LX450.

I'm trying to remember the name of the website that can find used parts for you..

FOUND IT!

http://www.car-part.com

Use 1981 - 1997, toyota, land cruiser, search the whole US, and there are few available for $125 ea.

Hmmm there's one in SJ for $175. I can get that one picked up and delivered.

The one you bought from cruiserparts.net came with the pitman arm?

Yes, but I am not using it - any of the Toyota IFS pitmans will fit. On mine, I'm running the billet OTT Industries arm, and it's total beef.

Ahh.. okay. I don't have one yet (nothing came on my IFS box) and I was lookin at the Marlin Crawler cross over steering arm. I'll check out the OTT one.

I pulled the BL out today. I leave town on Monday until the next Monday, so this weekend is the last time I'll be home before this thing starts.

The crossmember/leaf hangers look a lot better now. More tucked up. Same with my Draw Tite... and my tcase shifter.. and my header vs steering shaft. Gosh I love having no BL. :D
