I can get a poly explorer mount that's the same height for a custom made member.

I would only use the mustang mount for lift, if I modified the stock member.

Funny you should mention Brian, as I messaged him yesterday about making one for me. I figure that would be a pain for him to do tho, and I really just need to make it myself if I do go that route.

If you guys get one made from Brian, I'm in for one. I understand he'd need stuff to r&d it.

Ok Don, since Dono is in, that's your cue to ship that member to Brian.

My trans cross member frame mounts are welded on, so just the center section can to be made for mine. If you guys went coil over, you could simply unbolt those frame mounts, and have a full width cross member that is indeed straight across the frame. I would have to torch mine off, and rework the frame, which is not going to happen.

Edit: Nevermind Don, Brian already has the cross member to work with! :)

I hung a NP205 twin stick under a 1984 Ranger\
Not sure if this helps but here is a solution for you to par-ooze

We used the stock 84 ranger cross member modified to fit under the 4r70w tailhouing and used the stock V8 trans mount...the NP205 is a HEAVY SOB for such a small t case.
No WAY was I going to let the trans mount hold all that weight on its own....

The NP205 is setup to be mounted several different ways. There are aftermarket mounts for that t case too you can support it from the front, back sides to side, etc..... Well we are cheap and we have a welder so.... I made a simple mount to attach it to the drivers frame rail
Several years later its still working great, and his small block puts out well over 350hp (CRANK!!!) the mount is working out great, I was worried that being suspended on only one rail you would notice...Nope, cannot feel anything from the drivers seat. Hooray!

84 trans mount "slightly" modified with alot of welding wire

Just an idea if the atlas has provisions for a mount in this spot? I know they give you alot of mounting options with an Atlas???

I welded the lower angle iron to the frame and welded the np205 side pieces together, painted everything black and we are good to go.
Rubber bushings were from some old project, I have a bucket of these types of things.......

Thanks @410Fortune !!
I like the top pic showing the spacer made from tube to the cross member. I can make that! Wish I had a plasma cutter to cut out the top bolt section, to weld to the top of the tube. Cut off wheel will work, but man, plasma would be so nice for that! I hate trying to make oblong adjustment bolt holes with a passion. The engine mounts and exhaust allowing it to lift that much is still a concern tho.

Unfortunately, there is no mounting locations for any brackets to the round sided Atlas. It is only mounted to the tail housing by the clock ring. It has to be done at the trans mount.

Called Ford for a new mount, and they have been discontinued. :( Called every parts store around me, and nobody has one in stock. Going to have to order off the webs, and push this back til next weekend. I think I am going to try to go one small step at a time and see how it goes. If the new trans mount doesn't give me any more fuel line clearance, then modifying the cross member will be next. If I can't get that to work, then a complete new member will be made.

Guess I have no excuse not to mow the yard now.

for what its worth

cross members
no difference from a v6 to v8

stock v8 mount on top, mustang polly on the bottom. that mount is from a foxbody btw

stock mustang mount compared to a stock v8 mount

what i cut to make the polly mount fit in and let everything sit at stock angle

and how it bolts in from the bottom. there is just enough room to get a socket up there

Thanks for those pics Tim! Awesome comparison shots.

Since I want to lift mine, and being that mustang mount is taller, I think all I would have to do, is bolt it to the cross member as is. Might have to modify for bolt holes, but that's it.

I have a feeling the trans mount used was an old one from the donor rig. It probably just couldn't take the weight of the atlas, and went south, and left.

Turdle had to do a couple of things to his 4406 setup, to clear things. Going to try his ideas along with the new stock mount, and see how that works.

Loving all the input guy's!! :)

Edit:
Looking around the case and trans, I can definitely tell it has dropped and even looks like the trans is twisted to the dr side. The exhaust hangers at the trans mount would have to be re-done to even lift it as high as I was thinking. The rear U-joint is pretty close to the tank mount now. I was able to push the larger return fuel line, closer to the frame to get a gap between it and the case.

What depressed me looking everything over, was this new engine & trans is already leaking fluids everywhere. The entire underside of the engine, trans pan, and bell housing is covered, and blowback onto the Atlas. Only a few hundred miles on it. Guess I need to start checking bolts.

Flipped my 2000psi concrete power washer head upside down, and strapped it to a furniture dolly. Used the long wand on the gun, and rolled it back and forth under the rig. Blasted the entire under carriage with it for about 30 mins. Cleaned all the dirt, & spider webs off. Sprayed the fluid covered stuff with some soap, let it soak, then rinsed it all off with this. Worked pretty good! lol

I love that, awesome! I can imagine that would come in handy for many cars if you made the time to clean them with that. I still have a slight oil leak from my oil pan and front seal. I think the rear seal is really minor, but I'll try to change it when I do my trans in a week or two.

Try it! You can buy those concrete/deck attachments at lot's of places.

Rigs too big for an automatic car wash, so I normally use a sprinkler after a wheeling trip. It wasn't muddy this time, just dirty, and I wanted all that leaking oil cleaned off before I work under it.

I do use the power washer on it sometimes, but I always get soaked and dirty doing that. This did a better job, and I stayed clean! lol

dude that has got to be the coolest thing ever.....undercarriage washer!! Im too get soaked with the power washer when cleaning the underside....not any more!!

Why all the leaks? I'm curious as to whats leaking? Trans cooler lines?

Not sure if the intake, valve covers, or rear engine seal is leaking yet. Trans pan is deffo leaking. Cooler lines look alright from what I can see.

I think a bigger deck washer attachment would work faster, but this smaller one is what I had. For lifted rigs the 3500 psi washer can still force the water at higher distances. The furniture dolley is a cheap $10 hf one.

coat the furniture dolly in bedliner or undercoating for the win, put it on the end of a stick so you can navigate it around

We have "mud season" here on our road, it makes working on my trucks so much more difficult....well not if I have one of these bad boys all ready to go!

Im going shopping for concrete washer attachment for our honda power washer..........

Gman, the leaky trans pan might be the dip stick o-ring. I'd go after that first as it's pretty easy to change it. The only reason I'm suggesting this is I had this experience, and thought it was the pan gasket also. When I pulled the O-ring off it was clearly cracked and decayed.

410Forune, can't wait to see what you come up with! I used the trigger handle with a long extension wand on it to move it around. The connection at the washer head has a swivel on mine, so it was easy to push/pull it around on the driveway.

Dono, that's a great tip. Thanks!!

Little update. High stop is now working, and can scratch that issue off the list.

Next immediate item is to get the inner TRE boots on. State inspection needs to happen in the next couple of weeks.

If it don't rain (supposed to badly) this weekend, I can begin working on the trans mount and work on the leaks.

(Cough) i know a guy that does inspections lmao (cough)

Hmm, good question.

It seems the new one I sent them, didn't get put on. The one on there now looks like a 100k mile used clutch.

I thought a new fan was getting installed, and they was supplying it (they got discounts on Motorcraft parts), so I sent a brand new Hayden clutch to go with it. I have no idea what happened to it, as It wasn't returned to me.

Still finding stuff after all this time. :(
