Arus gave April some chalk to go play out on the patio. I went out to check on her, and she was in the process of turning my Tiki into a member of the Blue Man Group. Arus cleaned it off before I could even think of taking a picture.

She's gonna be an artist!

These first two pics are tikis carved into existing palm stumps in someone's front yard, right next to the sidewalk.
Third pic is the tiki I sold today.
Last pic is of my carving spot on Memorial Day, Windansea Beach in La Jolla, but it seemed like paradise! It's where the last tiki in the above post was taken. That tiki was the trophy for the surf contest that day.

Haha! I forgot to ask about that! That trophy tiki looks great. Did they have the plaque made or did you source that?

I carved a few more recently, but this is the one I want to show off.
I collaborated with another carver (Hank) and we came up with this. First I carved the basic tiki, then he carved in all the crazy detail, then I stained it.
Pic was taken in a gallery in Mission Beach.

Wow - is that multiple pieces or one long piece? Its amazing.

All one piece. I'm 5'8", so this is 10+'.
I'm doing two more, same size, for the same guy.

Got the second ten footer done today.

Amazing work. Good job. Do the 10 footers stand by themselves on that narrow base? I'd be so nervous it would fall.
