...There are a bunch of TTB X's here that are not getting mentioned, the ones that don't get trailered out to the trails... They drive to the trails, run the trails, and drive home where they perform grocery getter duties too....:p:

this sounds like a good goal .then i can buy a offroad toy for later.lol

Agreed!! :D

I trailer mine, because I can. I also drive it to the trail, on the trail and back when there isn't room for the tow rig and trailer. I would gladly use my explorer as a DD if I didn't have the bias ply SXs on it. Though I might have to start washing it if that were the case. :)

ooooh good thread I have been thinking about this topic for about a week now, and I think turdle is a great all around truck, its got street in it (347, IFS, nice looking) and its got off road in it (33's, superlift) but I keep coming back to Gerrald's 97 SOHC truck... that sucker has street in it (how about 2000 mile road trips to go wheeling) and it has LOTS of off road in it, 35's (I think, 37's now?) and lockers.

This is a tough one, I came down to this.
I couldnt justify giving the trophy to a SAS truck, all the street is gone even though they drive great on the highway, but a SAS screams I am going off road

So it came down to Turdle and Hootus, I think its a tie because Turdle has more street (about 150 more HP+) and Gerrald has more off road (dual lockers, bigger tires)

My question is Turdle locked?

Any other trucks to consider?

Thanks for the vote Jamie :D Mine's a '99 (not '97) and at over 200k miles it's finally showing its age.... but yes it's never been trailered and always got me back home, even on a crosscountry trip from South Carolina to run the Rubicon trail in California. It's been on true 4x4 trails in California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Probably more but I've forgotten.

Equipped with lockers front and rear wearing 35" MTRs and I've gone on just about any trail I've wanted to. It's not as capable as some the the SAS rigs that are now out there, but for the money spent and bang for the buck (plus still stock enough to be a DD and reliability) I've been very satisfied.

wow thats damn impressive

...Lol, sorry guys...I didn't mean it as an attack on the SAS crowd...

...I should have really put more emphasis on the TTB part and minimized the trailer part..:(

..I know some guys, and I'm not pointing fingers, have a perfectly good TTB sitting on the side of their house but they haven't driven it in a couple years...Then they start talking about the second gens as if they forgot all about the TTB's capabilities...:p:

I drive my 94 to work everyday! 95 is saved for the weekends and road trips;)

They both do a good job off road, but I have to admit, the 94 is a little more at home off road.

:exporangelol, and if you crash the 94, no problem,

I like Burns's rig a bunch, but i like Stic-o's too, and Turdle, and The Black Hole, DK's, Tbars, B2's ,Froader, and a bunch of others,, ,

but still , as much as i like all of them

the great pumpkin rocks,,,,,,

Mine FTW!

Totally kidding. I like MountaineerGreens rig a lot. Seems like it would perform great offroad and on the street. And it's super clean.

...I'm voting PaulB's ...(..Is it the 3rd or 4th version?)..When it gets done...It has already proved all around in it's previous incarnations and it's still TTB...:D

What about mine..? 18 with a kickass 4X4...biggest in the school parking lot.!

This is tough. Best all around vehicle has to be the Turdle hands down. No one can mess with a 347 and a 4406 conversion. That's badass :D.

Best off roader is really tough. I can't pick one because there's someone viable candidates. The off road rigs I like are Froader's, tbar's, stic-o's, and MountaineerGreen's.

Wow, I feel flattered. :D

Some of you might be interested to know Mountaineergreen put his lovely bride into his Mounty as a daily driver, I was lucky enough to get all the goodies ( locker, front CAD, 410 gears-superlift-etc). Hopefully he will get his buggy project going soon.

We have been places in this truck we shouldn't have been, that is for sure. And, as Gerald says, it has never left us stranded.

I did change to a coilover setup, however it has not performed up to my expectations due to the fact it needs a heavier and longer spring.

...I actually like Axial32's rig a lot and would drive the snot out of it...:biggthump...And if I was 18 and driving it, :shifty_ey ...I would be in so much trouble.....:smoke:

...The problem with threads like this is, everyone thinks everyone else's truck has something better to offer while we feel that our rigs are never going to be as good as someone elses..(It's that one obstacle that someone else can take and you struggle with, been there done that, and broke it trying..)...So we work and spend and spend and work to make it better...:hammer:

..Thanks for all the praise on my Project X...:salute:

.....My thoughts on my X, it has a long way to go and I doubt I will ever have it perfect, but it's always improving...:D

...So keep posting up your rigs and nominating others rigs as there has to be plenty more to add to this thread....and I am always keeping an eye open for more ideas to add to my trucks...
