JoshC's SAS #2

Now that's nice. That's exactly what i want, same look as a link setup and tucked up out of the way. So that's a skyjacker mount for an explorer??

Yes, in fact that's my old lift kit (what's left of it) that was sold to Felix then sold to Froader. This site is the parts-go-round for Ex/Ranger owners:p:

That tranny X-member bolts to the radius arm brackets (3 pcs.) and was orginally part of the Skyjacker class II system.

EDIT: Froader beat me to it:p:

I looked on their site and didn't find that whole member. I did find some mounts, i guess i could get the mounts and make the member? Not that i need that member. I've gotta make a tranny cross member anyways.

It'd be nice to have a pre-fabbed x-member, but I'm sure you can build something stronger.

Yes that would be great. I dont' care to make one if i have to. I don't think a radius arm mount and tranny cross member could be together because of the location. Anyways, is this the mounts you have?

What kind of front end flex do you have Colin?

I was also thinking about this when i was tossing up a link or radius arm setup.

Raidus arms.

but you're going to build a better RA than that!

sch00l SquattyD Josh! Freaking SCHOOL him yO!

I saw those over there a while ago. I guess weight doesn't really matter for radius arms, so I'm sure they'd work great. They will hang a little lower than the duff arm(pictured in that thread) and mine the way they are just extended and boxed.

Well i didn't mean that exact arm, but the idea. The good thing about making an arm like that is that i'll be able to tuck it up against the frame like a link set up since i'll have a heim on the end of it.

this picture answers the question i was trying to ask in the first place. I guess i couldn't think of how to word my question. I got this picture from a link off of PBB.

So now what do you do? Just run plate over the hole?

Exactly

no v8? why drive? said:
Heres some more pics of having to plug those holes with 3/8's so I could mount my rod ends.

you going to run coilovers? or you going to make a coil mount on top of the link mount?

PBB always has some one who has done it before, its a great reference jsut have to have thick skin.

Hey there JoshC, i see you might be welding to cast. Just wanted to make sure that you maximize your welding surface as much as possible.

I welded the upper link mount to the top of the differential and everytime I look at it, the little voice in the back of my head yells at me. :(

I can't afford coil overs, unless someone has a pair they want to give me :D

I've been reading alot about welding to cast. Of course everyother person has something different to say about it. Some people are scared of it, me i'm really not. If i question myself i'll just go down the street and have a guy that welded for 30 years do it for me. He builds air plane parts now, so i'm pretty sure a D44 for on old explorer wouldn't pose any challenge to him. I welded my bracket on my D30 for the trac bar, it's held up ever since.
