Keep an eye on this thread just in case it changes back to the weekend.

BTT-
I just downloaded the waypoints to my GPS last night. So my plan is to start on the Laughlin/Needles side of the trail which is how the books describe the trail.
What time do you guys want to meet on that Monday morning and where?

Either Sunday night or Monday AM is OK for me, but we (tbars and I) will have several hours drive to get there.
The "where" my be best left up to someone who's been to Laughlin in the last decade.
Anyone else confirmed or is it just us three?

Yeah, I havent been to Laughlin in a very long time. Are you guys going through Needles first? It isnt necessary to meet in Laughlin but instead somewhere near Ft. Mojave on the road between Needles and Laughlin. I would think a gas station would be a logical choice for a meeting spot to get the last minute top-off. On that note, a recent trip report I read said something about the Avi Casino on the river road north of Needles and that it had a gas station right there. Maybe there? (It pops up in Mapquest when you type in AVI casino and NV for the state)
I would be good for meeting around 9am Monday morning but I am flexable. Are you guys going to drive there Sunday night or Monday morning?
It looks like 3 of us so far...

Hate to do this, but with the other Mojave trip scheduled on a weekend I've got free, I think I am going to pass on this one. Normally, I like to get out on weekdays, but March is already getting crowded and with nobody "confirmed" yet for this, I'd rather commit myself to the April run.

From what I have seen of Calico Im not setup to do anything like that in my Explorer plus I will have a 700 mile return trip just from Barstow so I cant beat on it too much. I did see this but it doesnt really appeal to me: Article The Mojave road is all about Exploring though! I was planning on exploring some ghost towns around Laughlin after we did the Mojave road, this would probably be a long day trip. We could do that first if you wanted to and then do the Mojave road starting Tuesday.
So if this was changed back to the weekend of the 15/16th would more people come? Im fine with 2 vehicles but I would prefer a couple more just to have more of a buffer

...don't worry about me as i will show up whatever days and i am likin' your thinking...

I want to add, Calico is one of those places that can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be.
I don't know the way around by any means, but I've seen pictures of stock Xterras out there.

Well since no one else has posted in favor of the weekend lets just keep it starting Monday the 17th.
Do you want to do those ghost town sites first while you are on the Laughlin side (at least the closer one, the other one is near Parker, AZ which is a bit of a drive) or just start the Mojave Road Monday?

Might I suggest Davis Camp. It is on the AZ side of the Laughlin bridge and has decent sites right on the river for about $15 per night. HOTTTT showers. From laughlin cross the bridge into Arizona, and take a left. At the next stop light turn right and follow the road down to the entrance to the camp. I reside here in Bullhead City, but I don't thik I can go playing that week. But, you never know.

I'm already feeling a bit under the weather myself![]()
Do it! you know you want to

Tbars, I can add 1 extra day of camping and do some trails in the Calico area. I was looking in my Charles Wells SoCal guide book and there a few that I could do in the area that also look pretty cool. Do you have that book?
I do need to be on my way home by that Friday though.
So something like this:
Mon-Ghost town outside of Laughlin (1/2-3/4 of a day)
Tues-Mojave Rd, camp somewhere along route
Wed-finish Mojave Rd, camp near Calico area
Thurs-Do a few trails in the Calico area (I have to be back in Laughlin that night)
Hows that sound?
Are you planning on taking the Ranger or the Explorer?
