New 5.0L Headers are HERE!

Dave you need to just order a nice little DSS Pro Bullet 306 short block for around 2k. Greg and I can do the rest :) I'm up for a few more 3am nights, as long as there is provided Dr. Pepper and disc grinder action! I think it would be a sweet winter project. I did my heads/cam/intake stripped down to the short block in 2 days. :)

Not a bad idea. I've got to do something to get this thing running again. Its killing me to walk in the back and see it sitting there, then walk in to the basement ans see Section getting all this work done on his! :p I've been meaning to ask - do you still want the gauge pod and pillar?

I've got to get this heart procedure done first. Once this is done, I can get back to business as usual. And the Dr Pepper will be on tap... :chug: Its gotten to where I need to buy this stuff in a keg. Until after August 26th, its about the strongest stuff I can drink...

And the Monster Garage will live again... :burnout:

MUHAHAHAHAH :hammer:

And yes I still want that pod I need to come down and get it. If the garage door guy gets here on time and fixes this damn thing I might be able to make a trip down there tonight. If you read in the "under the sun" forum my garage door came down on Elisha and the Stang!

Six bills ain't that bad for some good headers. When my stock manifold totally cracked at the flange, stock replacement from Ford was $300 per side!! I got the FMS headers for $300 both sides.

Section..spend the money on some of the aluminum header gaskets. I have some on order. I'm tired of the exhaust leak noise from the cheap thin ones.

Cobra XP...do you have any performance numbers on your set up? I'm working on similiar. Just need the s/c. Will be ordering this month.

Already have the aluminum gaskets and locking header bolts on it.

Got the headers on and everything is nearly done. Extended steering shaft is in. Just have to get some lower profile hardware tomorrow.

But I'm going to do that in the morning and hopefully get it dynoed right after that. :D

Here is my steering extension. :bounce: Just need to paint it back up now.

Nitrous, what transmission are you talking about? The only fourth gear auto that is 1:1 is the 5R55W or 5R55S behind 4.6 V8's. All AOD's have 3rd gear 1:1.

:banghead: Everybody else, please stop being so willing to throw $3500 at a low capacity supercharger. That's way too much for 85 HP, with no room to grow. The Eaton that EE sells is designed to be maxed out on the stock engine. Look at the displacement of that unit versus the Lightning versions.

Someone needs to build a supercharger system for the 302 using a positive displacement unit like the Kenne Bell pieces. That would be worth the investment. For that kind of money, we should be getting 500-600 HP, not 300-350 HP.

Sorry guys, I am just very disappointed that no other company has stepped up and built a better choice. We are stuck fabricating our own.

You can get the Powerdyne, and upgrade to the XB-1A and run all the boost you want. Somewere around $3800 total. A member here had one on his truck for a week or so then totalled it.

CDW6212R: Oh I'm talking about my stang. :)

I did a custom Kenne Bell kit and it was E-Z. I have it off the truck right now upgrading my injectors. Off for my Dyno tune tomorrow. I have had it on there with the stock EEC tune and 19lb injectors for 14K miles. Absolutely no problems and very nice punch. I was only running 4-5psi boost due to the stock tune. Looking at 8-9psi tomorrow.

I will be making a template for the front drive support before re-installing, so I may make a few kits if people are interested...

The combo was a Kenne Bell 1.5L compressor. Mustang stock inlet and discharge. Holley Systemax series 1 lower. (CANNOT use the GT40/Explorer lower, due to throttle cable dash pass through location.) Custom shortened drive extension. Custom front drive support bracket. Explorer T-body elbow and t-body. Slight modification to the throttle cable bracket. Heavy modification to the coil bracket. That's about it.

Todd, did you make one off the instructions I sent? I was curious if you had to go another way or not?

I used the instructions from the EE kit to get some ideas for the front support and used it to verify the vacuum routing. Definitely came in handy! Thanks again!

I was wondering how that came out. You must have used the 97+ EGR setup, right? I know the vacumm line setup on the earlier years doesn't even come close to matching the EE instructions. I had a fun time with that...

Yes, I had the external EGR. I just made a custom 75mm ID t-body elbow and will be deleting the EGR with the new SCT tune tomorrow. I am also deleting the rear O2 sensors and moving the IAT to the lower manifold with a Lightning sensor.

This should be a big difference, going from 19lb injectors, 65mm t-body, 70mm MAF, stock tune to 36lb injectors, 75mm BBK T-body, 80MM ProM MAF, and a Jerry Tune! I am chomping at the bit!

Sorry to get us off track here - WHEN ARE THE HEADERS AVAILABLE?

Wish I could tell you the exact date. I haven't heard from Bob in a few days.

But.. where did you get those sheet metal valve covers. I need those! :D

The won't fit the explorer accessory drive! I was pissed when I trial fit them. The front edge of the valve cover on the passengers side hits the bac kof the alternator. I could modify it, but have never "gotten around to it" - Story of my life.

Are they made for a Mustang or what? My rockers are so close to the side of my stock valve covers, I'm affraid they're barely hitting and making all kinds of noise. Something like that would be the perfect solution.

I think i know why the break in the headers. It's probably for ease of installation. The gt40 heads have a slant to the position of that 1st spark plug and too the steering linkage does get in the way.

The valve covers are for a SB for. They would work with any engine that does not have the Explorer accessories. If you are interested, I am planning to sell these. I could cut out and weld up the front (welds will not be as pretty as original :) ) or just as is and you could "message" with hammer to fit.

Email me tmsoko@comcast.net

Email sent. How did the dyno and tune go??
