Will this be done for Moab?

Well unless something crazy happens.. like I get a new job... I won't be able to go to Moab. I have a gig down in Merced that weekend. It was the first weekend in May last year.. but we had to change it for some car show. :(

That's why I've slowed down the pace of this. :thumbdwn:

I picked up my Rock Equipment "Super Boy-Howdy" high steer knuckles yesterday, and Mr. UPS brought my 5x5.5 conversion kit... so I decided it was a good time to do some work.

Only hold up so far was a little clearance issue with the brake caliper.

One more:

ahah! u have a habit of painting before welding :D

BTW, why didn't u cut the old spring perch?

Ah crap! I had better get started builing my axle. Your gonna beat me!

I masked off where the perches will go! :p That's bare metal under there.

The driver's side perch is part of the differential cast.. so I has to stay. I left the passenger side on so it will maybe be easier to set the new upper perch when it comes time.

I think I am going to not use the Toy steering box anymore. :( Looking for a 73-79 Ford F150 box now. It's the same one CDSL used on his V8 SAS.

So.. anyone have a line on one? :D

why no more yota ?

Here is a pic of Cdsl's:
pict0119.jpg

The Toyota box would have to be closer to the front of the truck.. and without a BL on.. it would be very tight. I'll have to get some pics.

Just get a Explorer box and quite playin around! :p We actually pulled a box out of a 93-94 crew cab F-350 Dulley, and it's the same box as the one I pulled out of a 94 Explorer

Thats pretty strange, never even imagined ford would use the same box in the explorer and 350.

I think I read that all 80-97 Ford Truck boxes are the same.

My problem is I can't have one that mounts inside the frame rail. So my pickins are slim.

FJ60 box, or a Scout steering box.

The FJ60 box sits on the outside, and has the forward facing pitman, where the IFS box has the pitman facing backwards.

The FJ60 box is what I have on the zuk.

They are easy to tap for hydro assist too.

Try the calmini trucks guy on Pirate4x4 for one..

an IFS toyota box works great too...both me and 034x4 have them. mine isnt on yet but his is.

For future readers doing an SAS and wanting a forward facing pitman arm - what years of fj60's ran these forward-armed steering boxes?
