Stic-o's Sleeping Truck

Hey, you ruined the sticker!:p:
Missed the tail lamp, just like mine.
Tom and I know a good body man who is cheap.

That must have scared the heck out of you rolling at the top of a friggin steep hill like that.
Did it go over slow so you had time to think about where it was going to land?

I guess its just the picture, but the area doesnt look like it should flop. Bad line?

We defiantly need a background story.

Bad line? Obviously:p: That part of the trail keeps going straight or you can take the hard right turn down the steep hill which Stic-o chose. It's pretty rutted where Stic-o dropped his pass. tire then gravity took over from there.
I almost flopped in that very spot a couple weeks ago and had someone jump on my rear bumper to keep from going over.

It went over pretty slow, infact I was coming to a stop then it just rolled on my front tire over:rolleyes: We knew we were going over. It really wasn't scarry.( I've rolled before...just not in my truck, but I was driving, and it was on the freeway:( ) What went thru my head as we were going over was I have acage and it will do it's job. I insantly put all my faith in it. We never even used the cage though, I'm sure it helped structurly but none of the body pannel pushed in that far.

as far as damage, I'm leaving town in a little bit here, so I'll deal with it Thursday. I'm just going to do what I can to the body myself, I'm just going to dent it again anyway:rolleyes: . I'm seriously thinking about painting the truck now though. There are some really deep scraths in the paint now, down to bare metal. When we flopped it over she slid down the hill a bit.

I remember seeing Dave take that same line last trip and make it through, but I was watching from down below and didn't know till just now ^, he had someone on the back of his truck:banghead: That's kinda why I though it would be fine..

I have never run that trail before. Its a long way from my house for a day run, I figure it would take 3+ hours to get up there.
Glad you are okay, how is Jefe? I don't think I am going to let him in my Explorer anymore.

just as a suggestion ya might want to hit up Fatcat and see if he still has those white second gen fenders for sale.

Oh, and another thing............Explorers are supposed to sleep on all four wheels, standing up. If they lay down, it means they are sick....:p:

Your roof and the top of the body looks fine. Do all the doors open and close?

atleast it was just on it's side.

Why didn't it want to start back up. was it the emergency fuel shut off switch??

oh and I dented up my front fender and door and tore off my mirror the same way you did.
I fixed the fender by taking it off and taking a rubber mallet to the backside of it and it straightend out almost as good as new
for the door I pulled the interior panel and pushed out the dents by hand as much as I could.
worked alright. everywhere it wasn't too creased.

when the go on their side oil leaks into the clyinders and fills them up which can caus ALOT of damage if you try and start it like that.

When spas flopped we had to pull the plugs, crank it to spray all the oil out and then it fired right up

 Pass door opens, but the fender gets in the way, so I got pull the fender before I can open the door or change the mirror. Back door is alittle worce. It open, but it's you gotta yank on it. There's a pretty good dent bellow the handle there. actally goes into the c piller some there too.

The front bumper really saved my front corner, the weld broke on the outside of the tube where it pused in , but it did it's job. Without it I would have had a lot of damage up there.

Cargo system worked...Perfectly!!!. I have a 200lbs tool box back there, plus the fridge, and they never moved:thumbsup: ;)

As far as the motor, had to pull the plugs on the passanger side. 1 and 3 had a lot of oil on them, but 2 was dry. After we cleaned them and the MAS she started right up no problem:thumbsup: Just one little tiny puff of white smoke.

Drove it home the 50 miles or so with no problems;)

dam your rig has ZERO rust.... dam east coast.

Steve, we appreciate your effort, but you really did not have to test the cage so soon.:D
I found the right side mirror at a junk yard and it was around $40.00, three small bolts and a plug. Easy fix. You could search and find a white Explorer with a good right side and just swap out the doors and fender.

everyones alright, no one was hurt. it was "just" a lay over

I see Jefe has long hair now, he looks like a wild man from Borneo -- the bleached version.

Actually, I thought that was Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I actally have a spare mirror that is missing the glass, but my glass didn't brake;) I know CG has a spare pair of white fenders for same I'm trying to work a deal with on. I can find door in the junk yard pretty easy;) maybe it's time to lose the doors:p: I'll start lokking on what to do when I get back in town.

Maybe some tubular half doors?

That's a rough one, Stic. Took more body damage than I would have expected to see.
