Truck Haven MLK 2018

I will be there!

Cool. You haven't been down in many years. This is going to be great. I will make sure and be out there Wednesday before dark. I have a different RV, its a white 35' Dolphin. I might be the only rig there Wednesday, but if not give me a call if you still have my number.
Pic's for reference;

Edit: Please everyone bring firewood. We tend to have some large bonfires. I will bring as much as I can fit in the back of the Explorer.

Brian, PM me your number, I'll be stopping at Red Earth Casino to pick up water and I can call you when I do that.

Truck and Camper with JP on a flatbed. Just me and the dog. Also I saved my Christmas tree:thumbsup:

Be out Friday afternoon.

Well plans are changing as we speak. ..lost the camper today. :(

Was cleaning it out and stepped away to use the restroom. Camper was plugged in and charging. My wife starts screaming that it's smoking and the carbon monoxide detector is going off like crazy. I run out and the entire thing is filled with black smoke, we unplug it and disconnect the camper battery (was on the truck but not plugged into the truck.) While my wife is got a leaf blower blowing in the back door so we can try to tell what's burning. We see flames under the electrical panel and I have no choice to bust out the fire extinguisher and go in, with of fear of it all going up.

Got it all under control and don't see and visible damage but the entire thing reeks of smoke. Going to call the insurance company as it's fully covered. I pretty sure it's done.:dead:

Oh man I'm sure sorry to hear this Steve. I'm glad you were able to get the fire out, and get your own butt out of their safely, that's the most important thing.

Murphy seems to be running rampant! Aside from having to have the trailer rewired, we found out the large pieces of wiring were from our brand new smoker!!! Guess the 95+ pound puppy was mad cause we didn't share! Called the manufacturer and explained what happened after a good laugh we were told not to worry new parts are in the mail. Smoker now lives behind a gate!

Dang, Steve. That just sucks.

Be glad that you were there to put it out or you might have lost your truck too. My parents old RV was in for warranty work when it was new. The electrical panel shorted and smoldered over the weekend. Filled the entire coach with thick, black smoke. Insurance company had a company that deals with house fires clean it up. Took them a few weeks, but it worked.

Did you open all the windows and the door to let it air out?

I wonder if you can retain it and do the repairs if the insurance declares it a total loss?

Door and vents we're open when it started. We let sit for awhile afterwards, but it's back closed up now because it's suppose to rain tonight. If they want fix it I'll probably send it up Lance themselves, as they have a repair facility next door to them up in Lancaster. I have no clue how they would get it there however. All I know is I'm not surrendering my truck for weeks. Most places have no way to move it around.

I will tell you getting it back off the truck with no power sucked big time....There is no way I would ever, ever buy one with out powered jacks after having to do it by hand.o_O

The trick for that is to use an electric drill with an adapter to raise and lower the legs. Still time consuming, but not as bad as hand cranking:eek:

Damn, Steve. Sorry to hear that.

There is an exceptionally good chance I'm coming out late Thursday night instead. I decided not to pull the popup out; it's a lot of work for one person with no significant benefit. If it had a bathroom, it would be a different story.

I was hoping to make this run but it's looking doubtful. Among other things two bolts suddenly broke on the Superlift torsion bar drop bracket last week. All while pulling into a grocery store. I fixed it but I am worried about all the other Superlift bolts so will be slowly replacing the others.

Steve, you still got that huge tent? Throw it in the truck and come on out.

Come-on Joe, you can still come. Throw the extra bolts in the back and we will replace them as they break.

Brian just said what I was about to say. Mod party at Truckhaven :bounce:

Wait a minute. ...who said I wasn't coming? :D

Just means I can bring more firewood :p

I'll be out Friday or just come out for the day Saturday. Not sure yet.

Sold the tent last year, and need to go buy one for my girl scouts anyway. So I'll figure it out.

Hey guys, planning on heading out sometime friday. I'll be in my DD unfortunately, the Ranger is still out of commission.

I've got a bunch of mesquite wood to bring out. If someone feels like bringing a chainsaw there's some bigger rounds that need to be cut up.

Dave is Alive?

Tent order on Amazon:thumbsup:

Where's @FROADER

Mark told me that he has a new position and it won't be as easy to get time off anymore :(
I tried.. I really tried.. I can't get the time off... I've only been there (as an employee) long enough for 3 paychecks so I have no vacation time yet.

The good thing is I'll have accrued vacation time by the time October comes around so I'll be able to take time off. I think I'm going to use some of my raise to regear and possibly go up a tire size too...

More corporate fun is I can't get to EF from work now that I'm on an "employee" computer... and by the time I get home I have too much crap to do.. this has been annoying.

I am all gassed up and packed up. Only need to pull the Explorer out of the garage, hook it to the back of the RV and hit the road. Was thinking of leaving about 3pm today, but it has been pouring rain here all day. It appears the rain has already stopped at Salton Sea. Hope the flat off Marina is not a mud pit. I will advise upon my arrival. The good news is its supposed to stop raining by tomorrow morning for my drive out, and there should not be much dust out there.
