My RA caps look like these, and have the shock mout built in.

....but as you can see, I may have a problem when I do the Chevy TRE's on top like these heim's. So maybe I'll go quad in the back, like this :D

Why do you want to go with double shocks? All they seem to do is limit steering and suspension travel? I was doing some surfing last night and found a thread that mentions an add on extention to the stock early Bronco RA's. It threaded right onto the rear of the RA and extended them about ten inches, the other end was threaded for a heim. I can't find the friggin thread anymore or I would post it. It would not be too hard to fab something like that up. Oh, then you wouldn't have to beg the wife for another set of RA's... ;)

I think I know what ones your talking about. They are about, 80 bucks I think, with out the Heim's. I may cut the ones I have at the threads and re-threrad the end for RA's.

The reason for double shocks is, I don't want a sway bar, and this thing still has to go down the freeway for a little while longer. :( Don't worry though, I'll ask for your help Brian, when I get a ticket for my tires sticking out 3 inchs :p

You're at least going to get as much backspacing as possible on your rims right? I figure I've got 4" short of full width (2" wider than explorer), runing 15x8 w/ 3.75" BS, so with a 4.5" BS rim you'd only be 1.25" out further than me if you run 15x8's

No sway bars on mine and it goes 80 down the highway just fine.
Do you have adjustable shocks? I can't remember.
I'd think spending the extra dough on 2 9000X's rather than 4 5000's (or similar) would be better all around, and cheaper.

I would weld a threaded adapter on, and then screw the heims in; they are cheaper when you have to replace them from all the abuse.

Yeah but I bought 4" BS :banghead: Ineed to find some Eddie Bauer flares, they will be good for 2" inches...I hope

I did think about that, I would probbally have to make one. but thats basicly what the ones Bryan is talking about.

Here are the ones Brian was talking about....I think. They are $120 andextend 10.5"

the ends look the same as normal RA's but I was thinking to cut off the threads and then then re-tread the shaft. then I could put regular heim's

I paid half that for my wristed arm from Kansas shipped...

Well that's the thing, mine are plentty long enough now. As of now they will end up by the T-case

You dont need heims once the arm is extended. A regular Ford style rubber bushing will work fine. Once extended, the arm itself will outtravel any coil you will run.

That's a good thing...hopefully you won't need to build a new trans crossmember. ;)

I should not need to anyway. On the 2nd gens, you just lose the torsion brackets. they are in the same place but are seperate.

you can see here from 034x4's truck. (turn head to left  ) you can see the trans mount is still there, but also see the hole where the T-bar use to go through.

I am not a fan of dual shocks either. I ran the duff dual shock hoop on the front for a while with TTB. It was harsh feeling- so I sold it and bought 2 ranchos. Much better feel. Right now I am running RS9000s all the way around with no sway bars and mine handles really good. I won't do dual shocks again.

I run single shocks, no sway bars and soft springs no problems for me. I think mine rides better then it did with teh rancho lift that came with it.

JamesT make a very good point. If you think about, a heim will give no better articulation, then a extended arm with a stock bushing. Think of a arch, something 2 ft long would would have to piviot more then something 4ft long. So a heim in this case does nothing but add $BLING$ :D and maybe a ruffer ride.

I like heims because you don't have to replace them very often. The rubber or nylon bushings seem to get smoked about every other trip. That is the experience I had with my TTB bushings before I put heims on the radius arms. When I do my SAS, I am planning on using the same heims I already have, just cutting off the threaded rod of the Bronco RA and welding in a bung. Then I can use the RA mounts I have now, just move them forward or rearward as needed.

So it looks like Bronco Graveyard screwed up  the kit I ordered for the 44 outer parts has the M/M hubs on back order. They said it would be on B/O for 3-4 weeks. So now I then send me the Warn hubs instead
