What's the difference? Pics that I saw looked very similar. I know a CV axle would have 2 joints, one on each side, but this set up seems to use just one of those joints at the end of a solid axle for steering purposes only. There appear to be 6 ball bearings insdide a spherical "cage". Educate me, I'd really like to learn a bit more. Thanx,

You can google and learn all you want about a birfield joint used on Toyota front axles...

A typical IFS Cv joint has dual CV style joints at the end of a shirt axleshaft. the Birfield will only work at the knuckle on solid axles

Cardigan joints, birfields, and CV joints come in many sizes and shapes, thats really the extent of my knowledge on that! hahaha UI can replace a CV axle shaft and I can replace U joints, but I leave the rest to the experts unless for some reason I aquire some Toyota front axles someday.....

Yeah, i know that.

hint removed just in case.

Yeah, i've been sitting here debating whether i should give hints or not. I don't know when Jey wants to tell them.

Its gonna be a while untill they go under his truck. The gears for the front axle won't be out untill May or so (according to Randy's R&P) and no Lockers have been introduced for the rear yet....

oops, a couple of hints  sorry Jey

I hate to tell you this Yomie but there is 3 lockers available currently for the rear. They are Lincoln, Miller, and Hobart. :D

Are the axles out of a Zamboni? :D Maybe some type of heavy equipment? :D Eaton 2.ton axles from way back when? All kinds of ideas on axles.

Yeah thats what i was kinda refering to. Since you can't get all the parts for them now, he will slowly get odds and ends while he is in Cali and finally put it back together when he gets back.

How long is he in Cali for?

Forever. Once he comes out here he will never go back to that humity of the south. ::D Then when we show him the wheeling out here you guys will be lucky if he even remembers the south :D

I wanna go to the hammers...then I'll have to put the axles in because there will be nothing left of mine ha!

I should be ready by then. Just need to get a doubler in and I will be ready. You want to the hammers between november and April. Any other time it is to hot out there.

I'm linking the front so I can correct the caster with no leaf/steering issues.
Hey 034x4, what is your front axle's pinion angle (if you know) ?

(making sure i have proper caster after the housing is rotated for the proper pinion angle)
