I'm in to be with the stock group, don't qualify as a big dog. I think the 17 & 18th of April would be great!!!!!!! Stick-o I hope you can do this, I totaly support this run!
I am tentatively planning for this run, depends on my work schedule.
I got denied in late February this year in Big Bear. My Ex just could not handle that amount of snow and the slick granite. Gold Mountain which normally is very mild turned into a toboggan run for me on the North side. Very scarry when you are going up a steep icy hill and you lose all traction, start sliding backwards, totally at the mercy of the trail and gravity, with your braked locked and picking up speed.
And watching your buddy in front of you doing the same coming right at you.
It should be much better in April.
This pic is on the John Bull going up a hill, after we slid down in tandem.
Not Again! Well ladies and gentalmen I've just heard on the news that Big Bear is on fire. near the Bear mountain ski resort and compleatly out of control. Lets hope they get a handle on this.
I heard on the radio today that Bear Mtn was closed today but Snow Summit was open. One of the structures...ski lodge or something of that nature burned down at Bear Mtn. and of course some trees. I never heard anything about the town needed to be evacuated.
I can't believe you picked the most expensive camp site in the area.
Check out time is at 1pm so we would have to have a real short day on Sunday. I think I might just remote camp and meet up with you there in the morning. We could remote camp just a few miles in from Fawnskin, past Big Pine Flat which would provide toilets, and you could make a shower run if needed. The weather is in the low 40's during the day.
I just looked at weather for Fawnskin. It looks like Highs are running 54*-60* and Lows are running 28*-32* If we're not gonna stay together camping I mite just grap a motel!
edit: ok maybe not.. motels start at $70 on the weekdays

I called the Ranger Station to find out which places would be open in April. Serrano is the only one! I think those prices in the link are RV prices.
