Had to get the carrier out tonight, so I can go get the gears done this week. Got that done, and the carrier pin bolt did not braeak :bounce: When I went to take it out, the bolt was lose, and I could turn it with it my fingers, I started to panic, but all was ok ;) It just screw right out. C-clip was a little pain to get out with the locker, but other then that. every thing went smooth.

Hey Stic-o, just got back from rainy Glendale for a funeral (death in the family). Service was at a catholic church near 5th and Olive then it was on to Forest Lawn. It poured the whole time we were there....miserable

Anyways, sounds like you'll have fun with that plasma cutting out the IFS ;)

Thanks Matt ;)

By the way does anyone know anything about the inner axle seals (just inside of the carrier) on the 44? I got new seals, but they look funny. Looks like a horn on the inner side... does that sound right? and do they just pop out?

Got any picture of what you are talking about? I'm getting ready to rebuild mine also.

Other than the fact that they pop in/out from inside the diff I haven't a clue.

Yes, they come in and out from the inside. Just a tap in sort of deal. I beleive there is some kind of tool, but I just use a hammer and a blunt punch. A brass punch would be better probably. I tried to take mine out in one piece, but I ended up just demolishing it to get it out. I used the claws on my claw hammer to hook them. When you put them in, just be super careful of the rubber and the steel really close to the rubber. Be sure to lube it before you slide in the shaft too.
