RockRangerII the build up.

oh god, i shudder at the pics of that fuel part, that was part of the reason that my thumbnail got mangled like it did a fewmonths ago, it stilllllll growing back

hey, just a a question that popped into my mind, pretty much right angle bracket steel is what holds/supports the front and rear of that tank and just placed onto the frame and that rear spare tire area was just a great spot to put it?, just an odd thought that popped into my mind, today, on easter sunday, im gonna go work on the beast, now thats dedication to a truck

Not sure what you are asking here. But yeah it is held by angle iron and grade 8 bolts. Guess the next few wheeling trips we will se how well it works out.

pretty much, was askin if the front and rear angle iron creates a lip/shelf for the gas tank to rest against, pretty much like how a sink basin holds onto the counter top so that it does not lower any further , or does those angle brackets and the skid plate hold the tank up, didnt know if the tank was there for protection only

The tank sits inside of skid plate. The entire skid plate holds the bottom of the tank then straps hold teh tank to the skid plate. If you ever get a chance to see how a jeep tank is done I did it very similar. The angle iron is there so that I have tabs to bolt to. The way I did it you pretty much have to remove the bed if you want to drop the tank. I have a few ideas on how I could change it to make it so you dont have to but for now it will work like I have it.

oh ok, now i understand, i had to drop the tank on that CJ5 (the thumb incident), and know what your talking about now

Just ordered this badboy tonight. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=465032

Should hopefully be here by the first part of next week. There is about a 1% chance I will have it in before more moab but should have it in for any runs after moab. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Duffy (owner). He seamed real knowledable about machining of the parts and the process. One thing That I found interesting when talking to him about the shafts was that the guy doing the heattreating is also using the same materail for shafts in CAtapiller equipment with the same process.

OH hell yes :)

That is going to be bad a$$. I read that site before. But what do they mean when they say "you can clock it every 5 degrees"?

rookie this means you can rotate the T case a bit from stock, in 5 degree incriments, helps with ground clearance and front driveshaft clearance....a nice addition!

Yep, that is correct. When I put the NP231 in my Explorer, the adaptor let us clock it almost level, which puts the bottom of the T-case about 3/4 of the way to the top of the frame. Out of the way and more clearance.

There are two plates that are bolted together to make this adapter. You can bolt them together in multiple ways so that I can get the t case up high. I think the floor might meet sledgehammer so I can run a perfectly flat skid plate is my plan :D No I have to figure out how to get the tranny cross member up higher as well.

hey rock, you still got the phone number of the guy i gave that tranny to? i need the case, and he said he didn't want it anyway. i cannot remember his site name to save a life......and where the hell do you live in diego?

A 231 in an Explorer? Did you do a writeup? Where?

No pics, I had it done at TAG Motorsports in Escondido, California. It went in with the 700R4 transmission. I needed a manual transfer case to flat tow my Explorer, so I went with one I thought would last. Its out of "Brother of Jefe"'s J*&p.

Oh, I bet you used the S10 adapter behind that 700R4. I thought it was behind an explorer tranny. That would be sweet! Sorry for the hijack!

I took the day off of work today :D and decided to work on the truck a bit for the trip to moab. It was time to start playing with DB1's tube bender I picked up from him like a month ago. I decided to start out on my sliders cause I only had about 18ft of tubing at the house. I added a 1.5" 120wall dom piece to my sliders to hopefully help keep the damage away from the body a bit more. It was my first time using a bender to make anything so it took awhile to figure it out. I need a better way to cut steel other then a cutoff wheel on my grinder. Those $500 plasmas on pirates are looking pretty tempting. I also over the weekend added limit straps to the front end cause the shock were starting to pull away from the frame. I didnt take any pictures of the limit straps.

I had a HF chopsaw before and I was never happy with it. I could never get it to cut square. The blade would always wonder on me. I tried different blades light pressure hard pressure but could never get it to work. I have an old band saw right now but the blade is dull and it is to big to be easy to use in the area I have. I am thinking plasma right now. Need to see how much this trip to moab ends up costing me.
