Well I guess you can say stage 1 is done. Got it 4wd again.

Here's a pic of the sqaure drive shaft and the tranny crossmember in the paint booth:

We were going to take it out to the OHV park about 35 mins away.. but as we were leaving we encountered some sweeeet death wobble. Adjusted the toe a little and fix it (sorta). So we just went up the road to find some dirt. :(

square driveshaft!?! thats hilarious, why did you make that? be careful since that thing doesn't have a slip joint, I assume, you might cause a tug of war between the tcase and d44 and could potentialy cause some breakage.

Also if you disconnected both hubs and put your 1354 in 2wd shouldn't you have been able to avoid the wobble, because nothing should spin then?

The wobble is not necessarily an attribute of the driveshaft. It could be due to misaligned tires (hence the toe in/out adjustment)

It's still a two-piece shaft. You've never see a sqaure tubing shaft before? :D

I don't get it....

Why didn't you just extend a first gen shaft like I did?

It probally took less time to make then your saltien cracker shaft :bsnicker:

Because this is what all the cool peeps are doing. Plus.. plus.. we built it so it can be ran in the front or rear. Can you do that Stic-o?! :p:

Because with radius arms like you and i have the axle travels around a point (radiua arm mount) very close to the front transfer case output. this means that the differential never gets much further or closer to the transfer case, and doesn't require much driveshaft slip.

In Johnnys rig with leaves and the shackles in the rear, the front axle travels around the front spring hanger, effectively moving the axle forward upon droop and rearward on crompression, prolly 4". IMO this would be pushing the limits of a stock slip joint, or any slip joint less that $200, for that matter. When the scrilla is rollin in to the Section household a nice HAD long travel shaft will probably be in order, but until then this shaft has 14" or slip and is bulletproof.

I didn't believe him so I took the Remington 870 up to the hills with us and actually shot at it. It's still perfect.

Too bad you forgot to take it out of the truck first, cause the tranny pan didn't fare quite so well.

But I have a spare rear shaft :p:

I bet you'd have even more driveshaft vibration than Stic-o had running that square shaft in the rear.

Or maybe not, your fab skill do seem to be superior. :D

Jamie.. my 19T gear is way off. What's the deal with my math skillz?

I dunno my 18 was way off too, but using the GPS I was able to fix it using the
teeth x speed shown / actual speed

Told me 19.8 teeth, or 20, so I installed the black gear and tested it, within .5 MPH now at 65 so its perfect.

I think my drive gear is actually 9 tooth, I was counting them wrong but since its installed now I cannot check for sure.
The drive gear in my AWD case is yellow and I counted 7 teeth.

I figure my 33's arent really 33" x 3.146 for dia or maybe that calculation just doesnt work.
The new teeth one does work though!!! My match told me I needed 18 and then 16, but the GPS method told me I needed 20 and now its accurate
