Well the shackle bolts cam right out-and the springs look good-
It was those dang explorer express u bolts-the nuts on them is more like a 1" threaded sleeve--PITA

Not to be confused with the stock u bolts-

Anyway-it's in the past and the axle is out-
I have taken all the parts needed to straighten out techiemans old axle, which is going back in-

My old axles look great-there is no evidence they were ven on a bearing-

however-the diffy is a different story-
I knew it was thunking,
there is a weird slipping clunk going on in there-

I noted another difference between the 410 rears and 373

not only are the 410's missing the control arms-but the 373 dust shields for the brakes are riveted onto the brake caliper bracket-where on the 410 rears they are separate-

the caliper bracket is a bit different also--

The brackets etc. are still interchangeable though yes?

Nice deal Jon! Interestingly enough I have all the stuff to completely rebuild my suspension down to the rear leaf bushings-try to find urethanes for the rear leafs. I will remain stock height. My truck rides like a marshmallow! Hopefully it will be less sway now.-j

The energy suspension kit for the 1st gen works in the rear leafs. I haven't noticed much difference with them though. The EE sway bar is where it's at that's what really tightened me up.

Well, I was installing the pasenger side rear control arm, and could have sworn the front arm bolt was threaded on, hit it with the impact and no go.

uh oh-

Ummm, that backing plate has all kinds of fuel lines and crap holding it in. How in the world are you supposed to change it?

I looked at it and cried like a baby, knowing this was a 5 hour mistake. I was actually getting ready to drop the tank, when I realized I had actually broken the backing nut off--COOOOOOL!!!!!

I used an extra "winged" nut and bolt from Eric's rear axle ,drove it home and all is good now-

Just thought I'd share

Back out to the grind--

I'd like to see that picture, I don't recall much trouble unbolting the left one. I have my parking brake cable inboard of the LR control arm/bar, for more tire clearance. I'd have swapped that problem for Sunday when my LF brake line burst, before getting on the interstate. That turned out as well as it could have. Night,

Ignore the muffler please-I hope to be changing it soon-
I have a bit of work to do yet-
I don't know if you can see the smoked chrome brake line.
Notice also the sexy "dimple holed" Shackles made by Section525

The diffy cover will be changed of course-that is a chrome cover powdercoated with transparent black.

Very nice, and do you have any spare spring perches yet? I'll need a pair finished, and shackles also some day.
