Imo to avoid issues, one little suggestion with crate motor.
Make sure heads are machined to accept 7/16 rocker studs minimum for good adjustable stability in the valvetrain. Not much more $$

Open the box!!!!

In for the "build party" even if pushed to next Spring. . . . Glad you got what you need.

Paul
I'm Seriously floored by this! Your always welcome Paul, but man that is a hike and a half to travel. I'm honored, and actually at a loss for words. Thank you!

Truck ****! ❌❌ ❌

Part 1: TMH Unboxing 😛

The hole in the box had me a bit uneasy, but was a false alarm. No damages resulted.

These are the 3" Body Lift version. The Dr side is made special to clear the Intermediate Steering shaft. I believe nothing is changed for the Pass side.

Very sexy! And hopefully worth the wait! ! !

throw the gaskets, and the header to head bolts away and get remflex 3003 gaskets. im trying to find the arp bolts that you use as well without going out to my shed....

I am also a big fan of the Remflex gaskets.

Thanks Tim! I remember others in the past talking about the leaks with these, and the gaskets supplied was replaced with something better. It's been a while tho, and would have figured Bob would have had a handle on that by now. These look pretty wimpy. I appreciate the heads up on the better gaskets. I forgot about the ARP bolts tho. lol

Remflex or you can plan to have leaks

I’ve been using remflex 3028
I wonder which is a better fit?

The body lift version is very odd looking! But if it clears the steering shaft better then I am all for it!

28hp just for bolting them on

So I looked up both Remflex part #'s and the 3028 are for large sq ports found on Aftermarket Alum heads with a 2" bolt hole spacing, and are a tad bigger sized than the 3003.

3003- 1-1/8"W x 1.5"H stock sq port. 302 ('81-'95), 351 ('69-'97)

3028- 1-1/4"W x 1-5/8"H Large sq port- 289-351 Windsor, Aftermarket heads

I packed the headers back up for now, but need to pull one out to measure the ports on them. I also have yet to fully commit on the type of crate engine. Biggest thing to consider for me is the upgrade to larger AM Alum heads or not. Luckily these gaskets aren't that expensive. I can wait. This might be a waste of time if they use 2" spacing for the header flanges, and I can't do it.

The heads that have the wider spacing bolt holes should all have both bolt patterns on them. You can use those headers on virtually any Windsor heads.

For your mild engine needs I would expect you to get heads that are not really big or expensive. If you don't aim for any big rpm over 6k, then heads which are more like stock, will take OEM stamped rockers. Those are then easier to work with, install and maintain long term. If you push into more expensive heads or engines, those are much more likely to take adjustable roller rockers. That type are more high performance, and expensive, but they don't gain much at lower rpm's, and they need more maintenance over time.

i can say i havent had a header leak since i started using those. i have only blown one out, but that was because i discovered they werent flat to the head. also the arp bolts are super awesome. you have more room for a wrench or socket and they dont rust like the ones bob sends.
your lucky you have the updated ones. the older ones have the joiner flange on the drivers header that would always break down and leak after a couple of years.

Right on! Good to know.

You wouldn't have happened to find the PN for them ARP bolts, by chance?

I found the ARP bolts on amazon (expensive suckers), and since I have Prime, it was a no brainer with free shipping. While there, I also found the Remflex 3003 gaskets, and went ahead and ordered them too.

Both arrived at the same time, but in separate packages. The Gaskets was packed in a box big bigger than the Headers box was, and was shoved into the corner hard enough to break them in half. I sent them back an hour later after making a return claim. Sometimes "Free" isn't all that.
